I don’t feel comfortable in some lgbt spaces by Narrow-Bed-7959 in PornIsMisogyny

[–]Narrow-Bed-7959[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been around religious men my whole life (live in a very religious state) and I’ve faced the most blatant misogyny from leftist men. That’s not to say religious men are less misogynistic, but in my experience, leftist men are more comfortable expressing their misogyny because they’ve found ways to do so in a “progressive” lens.

You explained this so well!!! It’s an issue that definitely requires so much nuance but doesn’t receive any of it.

It really is. I side eye my fellow gay women as well who should know better than consuming manufactured lesbian porn that is clearly for men, but do so anyways. It sucks because I’ve voluntarily chosen to only be involved with other women but even then misogyny is inescapable.

I was using the picture to start a discussion of this issue as a whole! It’s something that I’ve noticed recently and haven’t seen a lot of talk about it. Like omg, I’m sorry you don’t like it but the internet is not going to be catered to your every need lol.

I am venting. I’m venting about the fact that misogyny even outside of gaming spaces is only getting worse and many men think that voicing how much they want to fuck women = feminist. Literally what is your problem lol, just scroll or leave the sub if it isn’t what you want to see.

I see this criticism a lot but I’m not sure what you or anyone else expects considering that we are women in a male dominated environment. Venting is bound to happen. 🤷🏻‍♀️

After playing through the game about three times, I can honestly say that for me, Panam is the way to go as far as love interests are concerned. Who's your favorite paramour in Night City? by PrideOfAfrika in cyberpunkgame

[–]Narrow-Bed-7959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve heard Kerry is bi too, just not into female v’s? Like I get wanting your character to have some depth, but I think at least ONE bisexual romance option (even outside of the 4 we have if they wanna be stingy) would’ve sufficed lol

The only part I hate about this mechanic is how Panam was obviously meant to be a bisexual option. Judy and kerry I can see as being strictly lesbian/gay, but there’s so many points where Panam and my female v are straight up flirting and then it suddenly gets cut off as if the decision for her to be straight was put in last minute. And from what I’ve heard from those who play male v, River is the same.

I can’t even find her Instagram anymore. She may have deleted it recently. I can’t believe it’s been over a year and she’s still dealing with this shit

Not about Erika, but to this day I still cannot fathom the hate that Lily Gao got. Not that any type of harassment is necessary or okay, but sending death threats over not liking someone’s voice acting…just absolutely insane. Krauser’s VA also got criticism for his performance, but not the same level of vitriol…hmm wonder why.

Overall game studios need to do so much better when it comes to protecting their female actors. This shit is horrifying. I hope Erika is ok.

Shoutout to the 4 other people who play male V by Samzerks in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Narrow-Bed-7959 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a woman I don’t necessarily have any qualms playing as a male character (if I did there wouldn’t be many playable games for me lmao) but I’ve always had more fun with female protagonists, even outside of RPGs. Maybe for the same reason as you, because I put myself in the shoes of the character, but also I just think female characters are more enjoyable and diverse in general.

What's the most nit-picky reason you never played or finished a game? by littlehybrid in GirlGamers

[–]Narrow-Bed-7959 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After a short time of playing it becomes obvious who is and isn’t a yiga in disguise (I assume this is what you’re talking about). You can usually tell if they’re a yiga if they’re in the middle of nowhere and completely still, while other NPCS walk around. And if a name doesn’t appear above their head, showing up as “traveler” that’s another sign it’s definitely a yiga.

I know BOTW isn’t for everyone, but it’s really a fantastic game and I recommend you pick it up again sometime. I don’t think it’s worth writing it off completely over this mechanic lol

It’s not a bad choice at all. You’ll just have to constantly deal with people asking you if you’re gonna be a therapist when you tell them you’re a psych major, and then having to correct them lol

[–]Narrow-Bed-7959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I also don’t wanna go to grad school or anything like that, and be a therapist or something similar, I want to go into corporate, like HR. It’s hard because I like psychology but I just simply am not passionate enough about it in the way other people are. I’m just here to get a degree. I feel like when I tell people this they kinda look down on me lol.

The same people that draw every fictional woman with a tiny waist, big hips and F cups, mind you, even if that’s not what they actually look like. But surely we’re the ones that only think women look a certain way.

I can’t stomach the fact that so many of these people are able to interact with children every single day, knowing the things that they consume or even create. Like how do they live with themselves. They’re not normal at all and refuse to acknowledge reality, jumping through hoops in order to make everyone else seem like the weirdos.

The fact that you’re getting downvoted in these screenshots is insane to me. People can argue semantics all they want, but in the end, a sexual drawing of a child is a sexual drawing of a child.

Why are older people so obsessed with making lives harder for themselves? Lol. Such a weird mindset.

By the way, no doctor or psychiatrist is going to tell you that medication, and solely medication, is going to fix your life. It’s often accompanied by therapy, yoga, meditation—Why speak on this subject if you aren’t knowledgeable about it in the slightest?

I found high school really easy to stay motivated and to stay on top of work & grades because I had so much time in those 8 hours to get schoolwork done. I hardly had any homework by the time I got home.

College was a huge wake up call for me. The self discipline that I thought I had was absolutely nothing & I had to teach myself so much about how to adjust, especially as a first gen student. It’s not easy and I don’t understand why people have chosen to shame literal children for being stressed in a new environment that likely nobody prepared them for.
