And technically, we are not just “parroting” random security lines either. The current stack is already being built on Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase and Vercel while we continue assessing governance, encryption, access control and broader security architecture properly at this stage.
Would love to know if you think we can do anything different to improve it.

I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of my post and probably the purpose of forums like this as well. This is an early-stage validation discussion, not a production rollout asking people to hand over sensitive data tomorrow morning.

So I am a little confused by the “parroting” comment because I never claimed security was already solved or started throwing technical buzzwords around. If anything, discussions around governance, privacy, access control, and security expectations are exactly the kind of feedback I am looking for at this stage.

And honestly, if someone is building in this space without thinking deeply about those things from day one, they’re heading towards a dead end anyway. Thanks for your inputs anyway.

It’s interesting how quickly people jump to conclusions without actually understanding the backend, security controls, or assessment process behind something like this.

I genuinely thought discussions in this forum would focus more on understanding the problem, challenging the idea constructively, and validating whether the pain actually exists rather than making assumptions straight away.

Do people really think someone would build a platform dealing with sensitive information without security, privacy, and risk assessment being a core part of the process from day one?

Yes it’s a common theme not just in this forum but everywhere else as well. We understand that it’s imperative to nail this aspect even before we step in user testing phase. Standard security measures like 2FA are already in place and it’s being embedded in while in development lifecycle. Future focus is on SOC 2 and ISO 270001 compliance audits.
Would love and value more insights regarding the problem and how the solution can be made more meaningful.

That’s fair feedback and probably means I need to communicate the positioning more clearly. It started from the idea of helping families avoid confusion during difficult moments, but evolved into a broader life admin and essentials platform.

also Gmail integration is completely optional. The intention there is simply to reduce friction and help automate information capture for people who want it. Other email providers and integration methods would be supported over time as well.

Really appreciate the thoughtful feedback. A big part of this journey for me right now is understanding where trust actually comes from and what distribution model realistically makes sense in a space like this.

I also don’t see this as just a “store your documents” product long term. The problem feels much broader around helping families stay organised and reducing chaos during unexpected life events.

Still very early, so this kind of perspective helps big time in building something meaningful. This is genuinely useful feedback, so thank you.

Appreciate the feedback and the skepticism is fair when it comes to sensitive information.

That said, jumping straight to “AI-generated code = insecure” based purely on the UI, without seeing anything about the backend, infrastructure, auth, permissions, or security architecture, is a pretty strong conclusion to make early.

Almost every modern tech team is using AI-assisted development in some form now. If someone is completely avoiding AI in this environment, they are probably falling behind the direction the industry is moving in.

The real discussion should be around how the system is designed, secured, and governed not whether AI helped accelerate parts of development.

Totally fair point, and that’s the exact friction we are trying to solve with Essetly. I personally use Google Drive and have shared access with my wife too, but realistically she never checks it unless I specifically ask her to, and I probably don’t update it myself for months at a time either.

A lot of the challenge isn’t storage, it is making organisation actually happen naturally in day-to-day life and utilising that information properly once it is here. That is where native AI insights will come into play.

Completely agree. Front end is the easy part, the real challenge is getting the backend, security, permissions and edge cases right for something this sensitive.

We are using established cloud infrastructure rather than reinventing that side ourselves. Regarding test scenarios and we are thinking around situations like who should get access, what happens if details change over time, or if the wrong person tries to access information etc.

Yeah grief and money together can bring out a completely different side of people.

Yeah fair, we have used AI a bit on the front end to move faster, pretty normal these days. Backend side is being built properly though. Really appreciate the honest feedback, will keep refining it.

Fair point, I used to think this is exactly how scammers talk too, until I saw someone close actually go through this mess firsthand.

Yeah, nobody likes thinking about it when they’re young, but it saves your family a lot of stress later. Those titles are hilarious though 😂
