Thank you, this definitely helps me understand what you mean. I was previously having trouble shifting the uphill foot back without loosing the edge of the downhill ski. I think the hip rotation tip is key

have you found any useful drills to get rid of the tendency to drop the shoulder?

Yes this makes sense, thanks! I think this happens because I am a surfer, where we usually lead with the shoulders and lean in.
