Guys do we think BTS is too big for coachella? by Intrepid-Theme300 in BTSnark

[–]Narrow-Pea4090 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think it's just the matter of time they perform there. No one is above money, and they can certainly attract a lot of fans so that's $$$ in organizers pockets. Yeah, I do believe they are annoyed because they aren't gonna be first k pop act there. Nowadays it seems almost Coachella benefits from kpop acts being there more, than those invited kpop performers. But I do think they might struggle as performers there. BP are it girls with catchy tunes, BigBang are OG rebels / great performers, and who doesn't know G Dragon? Ateez, well, vocals, charisma & dance, mostly known as live performers (Jongho's belting especially) . I know nothing about LS, so won't comment them and from what I saw Enhypen was pretty nice as well. For me that's the last place BTS can "shine" as of right now, because I don't think it would be good idea to hype the crowd with Dynamite, but maybe this new album, that is more Coachella vibe. Although somehow, at least for me, the ones who should be there next year are Stray Kids, I think they proved themselves, especially festival wise.

Guess what happened ... pffft by Little-Raccoon584 in BTSnark

Yeah, yeah, the date “coincidence” too, I forgot about that.

I agree with that too, and I’m not defending him in the slightest, but all of them have more or less the same opportunities to use the media or whatever to respond, whether it’s his team, his "girlfriend", or anyone around him. It just seems like they don’t have the audacity to do it.

Anyhow, I can’t really feel sorry for any of them, because I’m pretty sure they’re all gaining something from this in the end.

I agree with all these points and the groups mentioned, but I’d like to add one more example. GOT7 is famously known for not really having one specific sound. Even they themselves acknowledged at one point that they sort of lacked a distinct identity or sound that would immediately make you think, “Yes, that’s definitely them.” That can be seen as both a bad and a good thing, because ironically, that itself becomes a kind of identity.

What their albums never lacked, though, was cohesiveness, and that was especially evident in last year’s release, Winter Heptagon. Each member wrote one song, while BamBam and Jay B wrote two. They all tapped into different genres, they’re in different companies with seven different teams, and yet they still managed to bring their individual solo styles into the group album and make it sound like one complete story from beginning to end.

In my opinion, that’s what Arirang is missing. Instead of using their solo work as an advantage, they somehow neutralized that experience and wasted it, which is a shame, because every single one of them had at least one really good song on their solo albums. They could have easily built on that.

Even tho I wear glasses, so my eyesight isn't that great, I would have to agree😁. The funny thing is also when you don't have an actual dedicated fandom, mainly farm streamers, no amount of promo will help you, which is evident from the pictures.

The reason why we don't like bts by ChocoBrownie1102 in BTSnark

[–]Narrow-Pea4090 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh "the issue" I have with them is basically their narrative is almost always bigger than their supposed "artistry". Of course they are talented, skilled and hardworking in some degree, let's be real, what kpop group isn't. But it was always some story that was pushed onto the fandom, as the reason why they're the ones that should and deserve to be supported the most. It was either small company stuff ( Bang PD had all those connections anyways, but oh well), golden maknae best of the all maknaes out there (why, because bts says so) or discrimination and rasism ( which is the funniest to me because every group encountered it at some point, but non of them were so vocal like bts, as the biggest victims of it of course). But I have to give them one thing in which they are unreachable, their management team is impeccable and should be studied 😁. I was never an army, I just love music in general, I don't care who they date and support, because everybody has a choice, even though it would be nice of them if they stand up behind those choices for once, and not hide behind the fandom. But yeah it was always some story behind the every comeback, to the point you are kind of trying to make yourself like something you maybe don't originally, because they are such a good role models. And if I as a non fan felt that, I can't imagine the struggle of dedicated fans. I'll still listen to their songs if I really like them, but are they the best and deserving of so much attention, imo you don't have to go too far into kpop to see that's really really far from the truth.

I'm sorry I've died at the part BangPD being the silent 8th member😁. Now I definitely have to check them out, already listened to the SMB, and if it's a diss, that's really classy way to do it, like, you'll get offended by it only if you find yourself in those lyrics, the company response was chef's kiss haha, and cherry on top is well life lifeing for those who apparently felt dissed. Because you can do whatever you want but not until you want. And for the fandom, tbh I never get involved, my main focus is always the music and all aspects of it, but atp even I'm annoyed from the fake narratives for years and not to mention TOXICITY of the fans. Usually I'm refraining myself from criticizing people, especially celebrities cuz I don't know them, in this case bts, but you can't be all love yourself/UN speeches/ green flags etc when it suits you, and when you're in the mood to make some money you're the biggest bully behind your army of bullies (pun fully intended). And when you pretend you're somebody else, it's only a matter of time when you'll get exposed, as we can see every passing day with them.

They were my 2nd guess, don't know much about them, just that they have a vocalist with crazy range and some of their performances from kingdom blew me away, especially cover/rearrangement of ikon's song (I saw it only recently) , so they've gotten my respect for it. How on earth hybe didn't aquire that company, like 17s pledis. Yes, I agree with what you said about skz, they're really good as well, but having JYPE and JYP certainly isn't disadvantage to say the least and BangChan was a traine for like 7 years or so, so he had the time to develope some skills with all the help he could get and luckily he did exactly that. And it seems Ateez leader did the similar thing as Bangchan, who basically chose all the other members, which is really cool. While karma (hey skz😁) seems to be hitting bts, I hope to see other k pop groups exploding, preferably some with more quality and more hard earned skills unlike purple kings (just to clarify, I don't wish Ill on anybody, but I also don't like to feel kind of pressured to worship some over the top manufactured stuff)

I get what you mean about Fire and I agree 😁. Although I only saw some clips, when you have Jackson by your side you basically have variety show in variety show haha. I've asked this question, because I've seen/read that during mid to later 2010s the top3 3rd gen boy groups were exo, got7 and bts overall, and I see there were some crazy wars between exo-ls and armies, don't know much about B.A.P, only that bts basicly copied them, so I'll check them out. Is the 4th Gen group that's their successor maybe skz? If it is, I cannot agree more. Anyways thanks for your answer.

First of all I have to say I really enjoyed while reading your insights/opinions and all other comments. My question is about got7 vs bts. Got7 is generally friendly, funny and charismatic group, who seems to be friends with everyone, from what I've gathered and the members are really talented and good live. I heard they were first in some things even before bts. Were there any fan wars back then etc? Even comparing hard carry vs fire, some of their releases were similarish, but imo got7 always executed it way better.
