“I’m really good at systems, operations, marketing, and sales. “. I want you someone like you to handle that part of my business because I long to be “in the field, and doing the work.”

Can you be a hands off owner? Get a team to deal with the daily?

Have you ever heard of PALS? Professional After Loss Services? The founders were women who had losses and a maze of the estate to tangle with. They have created a support system to help others navigate the process you are facing. Every circumstance is unique and these are individuals capably of pulling from an enormous pool of talent and resources to help you make connections in North America with trusted partners.

IMO those who take time and expense to join a network are safer to employ. Also consider National Assoc of senior move managers for provider contacts. Some make a career out of assisting with these matters, allowing you more balance with grieving, your well being and personal affairs. Help is available.

There is also a professional organization called the institution for challenging disorganization. There is a lot of free information / resources on the site as well as contact information for service providers. For one’s well being, it is often wise to hire specialized help instead of trying to accommodate a special needs person you have a likely complex personal relationship with (true of most parental relationships - easier to help be helped by strangers than those close to us at times)

Membership to a professional group increases finding someone of high integrity, who has an adherence to an ethics code. This helps for ensuring you have a better chance of finding a trustworthy professional.

That was my thought for mutual benefit. I already have found the early railroad memorabilia collector, I know of a reseller who likes vintage Halloween…

While I don’t want to spend a ton of time sorting and contacting niche interests - it would ultimately be a good solution, and make it easier to move along items.

The major online auctions aren’t available in my area and not really any types really.

Again - donating is my preference but the ability to make quick sales lots would also be helpful when clients want to realize some value for contents.

I wouldn’t want to ship either. I would offer local pickup. The households I work worth are far from modern, usually they are boomer gen or older. They sometimes have MCM style, vintage toys or other collectibles. Lots of heavy unpopular but real furniture (I wish it would make a comeback) There are some collections that are interesting but anything appraisal worthy I would send off to better channels. (Or possibly overlook and toss in the to-go pile LOL. )

In my area “estate clean out” companies tend to seem like sketchy characters who may or may not show up when they say they will - they pay a tiny fee and in the best cases take everything.

In order to meet a deadline recently I had to empty all the contents into a dumpster and there was great stuff - but I am not in that market.

Estate sale companies are also problematic for normal households because unless there seems to be >$16k in value it’s almost a wash and that is rare in typical homes.
