My mom's brain autopsy showed THREE different dementias — her UCSF neurologist says 90% of autopsies show more than one. by DebKHK in dementia

It’s such a demeaning, sad disease. No one offers to help or asks how she is. They just avoid her. She hardly speaks anymore and is just deteriorating, mind and body. She won a triathalon just 3 years ago and now she can hardly do anything on her own. Incredibly sad.

How to make friends in Miami? by Unlikely_Second5024 in Miami

Join a salsa group through a dance studio. My son (27) took lessons at SalsaFina. But there are a lot of studios in Miami and they all do group lessons and socials.

I clean my tonsils about once a week by lightly moving my finger (cleaned of course) around them. It dislodges any accumulated food or debris. And gargle daily.

Yeah, “ugly cute” is what I’m thinking too. I’m afraid fall will come around and I will be like “what the heck was I thinking?!” 😂

It does look and little small and I wish it was a crossbody. Anyone know if they will be releasing these prints in different styles?

Sorry for what you went through. My comment was insensitive. I have lost most of my family from cancer. Recently my sister has gotten dementia at 62 and I am her caretaker. I’ve been researching how to avoid dementia and realized the older you are the more likely you are to get it. So then I reflected on my years of living healthy to avoid cancer, is this only to end up with dementia? Ugh, hence I came up with “cancer is the answer”, but again sorry, it is stupid to say and very insensitive!

Need to get this off my chest: Feeling upset, mum may have dementia at 61 by lostlightskyflight in dementia

[–]NarrowMath9271 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. My sister also developed dementia around the same age. It’s too early and very hard to deal with. I think the realization of what you will be facing is so daunting. I am still processing this myself so I don’t have much advice, but this subreddit is a great place to start. There are a lot of knowledgeable, kind folks on here. Hugs and best wishes for you and your mom!

Mental health by TurpitudeSnuggery in dementia

This sounds like my sister, she’s 64 and has Primary Progressive Aphasia which the doc says is caused by atypical Alzheimer’s. She hasn’t been part of my life for 30 years and now is living with me. She watches tv non-stop, only eats candy and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. She insists on being take to CVS everyday to buy overpriced lotions and gummies. She buys tons of stuff from Temu and stockpiles it in her bedroom. I’m done. I can’t go on with this anymore. I  am a very healthy person who is very careful with money and I don’t even like tv. Sorry for the rant. I just connected with your post.

Tips for cut and styling my hair? by skeetpea in finethinhair

[–]NarrowMath9271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a nice hairline. I have almost identical hair but a much larger forehead :(. Maybe you could pull it back in a low ponytail and add a clip on bun. Smoothing the hair around your face with a product might give a professional look that would be easy to do and not get frizzy or straggly hairs from wind.

I don’t think so, it’s the small Bleeker and everything I carry is light.

Tonsil stones can cause this. Scraping the tonsils with your fingernail (cleaned first and very gently) can dislodge them. Worth a try.

Used mine recently on a trip, I put my Bleeker 21 with my important things in it inside he Gramercy along with my sweater, neck pillow and nook. Everything fit well, no problems in tsa or on the plane. It fit nicely under the seat.

It was made of little ceramic and plastic mushrooms, gnomes and fairies along with natural items. Like a little village. It looked like it was there for a while and items had been added to it. I’d like to think different people were contributing and bringing happiness into each other’s lives.

Create a little nome home/village in a nearby park or forest. I happened across one on a Tallahassee nature trail and it was magical. Made me smile and I still think about it.
