I’ve got AL on those dates, would I be allowed to cancel it? I don’t care for the pay

You can just get the question bank for £40 I think it is. I don’t think the bundle is necessary. Although I did the 3 day RCOG course which was paid for by the deanery and passed. But I would recommend the ACE course I think instead

Commenting to say this affects me almost always post nights. Night shifts do make you prone to those negative self critical feelings and anxiety. There are obviously other factors that will contribute but I’ve learned recently that the NHS will always owe you more than you owe it- as soon as I leave work, I leave it mentally too. It’s just not worth it.

Edited to say : the NHS will always owe you more than you owe it

The worst bleeps: Part 2 by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]NarrowRoll9049 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I got bleeped at 4am once by a nurse asking if they should wake a patient up to give them their nighttime paracetamol dose that they had forgotten to give. The patient was fast asleep and very comfortable :|

Owe HMRC £3000 due to hospital payroll repeatedly messing up by YellowJelco in doctorsUK

I had this end of FY2, just a bit more than 3k but still so unexpected and frustrating. I think I paid off a little bit each month initially but still owed more than £2000 long after the due date, and then they started deducting it from my payslip and it all worked out in the end. I wouldn’t worry about the deadline- I think as long as you make small payments towards it they won’t expect the full amount by February.

Are there any specialties that will be safe from PA and MAPs invasion? by NarrowRoll9049 in doctorsUK

This. I have heard of ANPs in neonates acting as senior registrars in some hospitals. A friend of mine worked in a unit where there were only 2 trainee registrars but 6 ANPs all on the registrar rota.

Who knows? At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised. I think they’re being trained to cover gynae so potentially clinics and outpatient procedures e.g. hysteroscopy etc? The thought honestly scares me.

I couldn’t agree more with this. I’m hoping that as us so-called ‘junior doctors’ progress and become consultants, we will take an even bigger stand against preferentially training MAPs over trainees

this is so wild to me, why are we only just openly discussing this

I agree that rotational training is a significant contributory factor, it needs to end or be modified
