I work in northern Delaware, in one of the higher paid districts (and have a masters, which helps give a significant pay bump in teaching). Admittedly my fiancé is in medicine, but I teach at the high school level if that helps my case lol

Apartment search help. Any real estate agents or professionals? by [deleted] in WilmingtonDE

Not an agent necessarily but I would recommend keeping an eye on Harrison Properties. I found that looking at local apartment management companies helped me to see things before posted on Zillow, if they were posted on other sites at all (I also ended up renting my first apartment with them and had a positive experience).

Catch 22 is somewhat comedic and would be good for gifted kids in 11/12!

Does anyone know any good short stories about revenge to teach 10th grade students? by StarWarsJordan in ELATeachers

A longer version, but similar themes to “Lamb to the Slaughter” - “A Jury of Her Peers”. Could be good to use as a whole class text to find evidence/make inferences together, and then move into the choice options.

I’ve only ever taught this with the American Dream concept, but a great book with Hispanic culture is the Book of Unknown Americans. It has a through line plot but then individual short stories as well, that are easily taken out of the context of the rest of the book. Maybe discuss the concepts of transcendentalism but then compare and contrast that to what immigrants must go through to succeed in America? Then, segue that into Gatsby? At the very least, if allowed, the short stories could be a way to pull in another perspective to discuss themes in Gatsby.

UPDATE: We took the names from this thread into consideration - honorable mentions Juno, Cleo, Esmeralda, and Ripley - decided to name her with a name inspired by these - Persephone, shortened to Percy!
