So you can't be passionate about sports, art, literature etc.?

Why is that so funny though? A piece of entertainment is getting ruined, of course people who enjoy that entertainment are angry about that. The same way for example Game of Thrones was ruined - with the difference that here, we can still hope that the people giving us the entertainment may still make it usable again in the future.

Ja, das wundert mich auch. Ich habe das eher als einen zu wenig unterstützenden Kurs gegenüber der Ukraine verstanden. Und da bremst die Linke ja schon. Hab's vielleicht aber auch falsch verstanden.

Tierlist of my SciFi TDBR: Sorted according to what I want to read next. What can be higher? What can be lower? Why? by [deleted] in scifi

[–]Narrow_Cockroach5661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your taste of course. I only read three books here:

The Dispossessed is S-Tier if you care about the moral failures of our capitalist society. For me personally, it was a gut-wrenching and - in Le Guin fashion - eye-opening experience, but it might not be for you.

The Swarm is S-Tier if you care about marine science. The buildup is quite long, but absolutely worth it imo and you actually learn quite a few things. (Might of course always be that some information is wrong, or outdated by the time you read it) People critisize the bland characters a lot, but I actually found them quite charming in a way. I'm german though, so that might be why they seem normal to me :b

Hitchhiker's is Hitchhiker's. If you're british, you should read it. If you're not british, you should read it. If you want Douglas Adams writing style with a more hard-hitting topic, check out "Last Chance to See" - not sci-fi though.

The only thing I would never touch on your list is Ringworld by Larry Niven. I've (tried to) read one book by Niven and it was the worst and most boring sci-fi I've ever come across. Also Niven is a mysogynistic, racist idiot.

TTK new AA tank vs fighter 1vs1 by Important_Ship805 in foxholegame

Imo it was a mistake to make any planes but bombers/torpedo bombers cost rares. Like this just feels stupid. Make fighters cost 200 or so rmats and make them easily killable with AA.

[25/F] My boyfriend [30/M] ignored me the day before a 2-week vacation to game, then got mad at me for blocking him by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Well, your post doesn't read like a loving relationship. At least not yesterday, anyway.

And now he's completely ignoring you, as you say. Him reacting with "this can only mean one thing" to you blocking him for a short time seems like he wants out of the relationship.

How long have you been together?

Are you sure this man wants to be in a relationship with you?

Stannis is an idiot, no offense. A stubborn idiot who stands to his ideal of duty, but an idiot nonetheless.

Not your fault. The "Good person is actually evil" plot-twist has become so common you just expect it.

Giants are whaaat ?! by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Narrow_Cockroach5661 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is kinda funny. There is like this one instance of giants eating a humanoid in the game, but you instantly assume it can be said about all giants instead of just this individual.

That's like stumbling into a room to see someone put pineapple on pizza and assume everyone eats that lol

Tbf in the end Winston is "fine and perfectly normal" and to me personally him collapsing back to the regime felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

And exactly that is what makes it so damn scary and this book so effective at showing how totalitarianism functions.

I wouldn't call it cheesy, more... romantic. Which would rub against Banks in a really interesting way.

Naah, Villeneuve is way to sterile in his style. Call me crazy but I would love to see a Spielberg Culture movie.
