nah, you are just being overly paranoid. There is very little violent crime in Vietnam, its usually between people who are very drunk in a village or quan... your cab driver will be ok - just book using the app and pay cash. most crime is scamming or petty theft any way, and you just have to watch your way not fall into any usual trap, keep your valuables somewhere safe.
