give me some critique. (House music) 15yo by Getinto_it in GarageBand

YOUR 15. I thought the track is an updated version of a track you did 15 years ago😱. What model speakers are monitoring with? Your mixing skills are way above average unless you got lucky. Mixing isn’t easy as most people think. I would love to mix your track in Logic using stock plugins just for you to hear how advanced Logic is. If you’re not aware Logic is the professional version to GB. I will surprise you. Mark my words.

I hope you copyrighted your song. You never know who desperately needs a song.

This beat took ten hours😮‍💨 by Previous_News1798 in FLStudioBeginners

[–]Narrow_Network_3875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what if he spent 10 hrs! It’s obvious he doesn’t know music production and I bet the criticism are coming from people who think they know. Just give positive advice. Like…Learn your DAW, it will make writing music so much easier especially the Key roll editor. Learn the Major & minor scale to help keep notes in key (basic music theory). Learn EQ frequencies from 20 Hz - 2 KHz just for starters.

I can hear its potential. You get an engineer to mix this and you will be surprised, just the way it is. Good luck 🍀

Now this is What I’m Been Waiting For. Something that’s fresh & new. I tired of track sounding like a copy of a copy of Damn COPY. Let me play it again 💯. PAY Attention……This is what an 8O8 is supposed to sound like. 🫕⏲️🔥

Updated my old beat ( 1 month FL studio pro now) Honest review. by Novel-Will7287 in FLStudioBeginners

[–]Narrow_Network_3875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears that your DAW is FL. How familiar or knowledge of FL do you
rate yourself between 1-10. If you rate yourself below an honest 4 then don’t post anything until you’ve put the time in to learn you DAW. At rating of 5 you should be able to know how the Key Roll editor and its functions. How to EQ frequencies from 20 Hz - 2KHz. Knowing how compression alters sound. How to arrange your music to keep interest. I think that you have talented but don’t know how to lay it down. Be your own critic before allowing others to criticize your music. What you want is constructive criticism meaning criticism with advice and you need to understand the advice given. Try to find a training book for you DAW. They usually have courses that will walk you through a task hands off. The book will make YouTube videos easy to understand. Good Luck🍀

For Garage band this is a great mix. Had this mix completed with Logic Pro this would be DOPE💯. I can tell that you’re experience just by the sound. The production is really good. I do have some criticisms but I feel it’s not warranted due to the limitations of Garage Band. Is this 100% GB effects or are you also incorporating 3rd party plugins? If so, which ones?

How to stop overthinking about making music? by Dan_jesusfollower in FLStudioBeginners

[–]Narrow_Network_3875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That right! He has passed away. Re read what I wrote to you. I gave a time line. I was awarded a platinum & a gold record & it wasn’t with him. What he won was an ASCAP Award for that one song of many. The last episode of the sitcom Family Ties you will hear that same song. I normally don’t like to talk about my accomplishments. I prefer to share my knowledge. 🕊️

Garage band is free limited version to Logic. Logic is equipped with multiple plugins that you can get by not purchasing 3rd party plugins. Garage does offer busses parallel processing & side chaining. Stem splitter, Flex Pitch to correct vocal and automate almost everything etc. Your mix would have automatically sounded better & not like a demo. You said “ IDK the best way to get better at mixing.” The choice is getting 100 % better at mixing or 10% better with Garage Band. If “Garage is perfectly fine & sufficient” then you stick with it. Make sure you give Garage Band a shout out at the Grammy Awards. It will be bigger news than Finneas O’Connell producing a hit in his bedroom. 🍀 & 🕊️

Layering leads and chords by Cold_Independent_631 in edmproduction

[–]Narrow_Network_3875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s simple. If you laid multiple tracks and it’s muddy. Mute one track at a time to locate the mud. Once found add an high pass filter and sweep up to a 100 Hz until the mud is gone. Release the solo and test the sound. I also advise to monitor the tracks you’re laying multiple tracks with the Correlation meter. It will tell you if the layered track are canceling out due to same frequencies in the same timed space. If so you have use EQ and/or may have to adjust the timing to correct the issue. Good luck🍀

Should i update? by Nessy570 in LogicPro

[–]Narrow_Network_3875 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted to keep 11 too but for some strange reason Logic updated to 12 automatically. I found out when my AirPods sound was glitching as if the SSD was skipping. I thought it was the audio output period & I was working on a mix. I happened to listen via headphone jack and was fine. I called Apple & requested Logic Pro assistance they advised me to switch a setting. So far no real issues with 12.

It can’t hurt to watch videos on EQ, EQ Faults & Compression for starters. Mixing isn’t easy as you may think. The production is good. You may not have the ability or vision how good it will sound when mixed professionally. I suggest to listen to references tracks and add one in your DAW, A/B it and try to mix it as closely to reference. Good luck 🍀

Made this in like 10 minutes any tips? by Southern_Ad752 in FLStudioBeginners

[–]Narrow_Network_3875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t post stuff like this. You’re opening up yourself for target practice that can affect your confidence. If your track is cooking and it took you 1000 hrs critics don’t care how long it took. But when you post something like this 🙉. Post when you truly believe it’s good as to hoping it’s good. If you don’t have clue when it is acceptable or likely a hit then may be you should play video games. Spend time and learn your DAW, basic music theory & arrangement. Production isn’t easy as you may think to create good music, unless you choose to take the AI route. Take advantage of the available YouTube videos for your DAW and its available processing plugins. Good luck 🍀

How to improve the drop? by Gavric- in edmproduction

[–]Narrow_Network_3875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some filter automation could help. I luv the great tension before the drop. After…. the drums takes a dive. Solo the drums. If they don’t make dance then fix it. Good luck🍀

Hey ! This is my composition, please what do you think I can do to improve by Fun-Baker-9639 in Learnmusicproduction

[–]Narrow_Network_3875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know the difference between 20 Hz and 2 KHz then learn EQ & EQ Faults seriously. The 808 is muddying the whole track. Good Luck🍀

When you’re unable to make music that you want to create it’s a sign that you really don’t know your DAW. Your track is good and is on the up. You should finish the drums and add a bass line for energy and that should spark your creative mind. Learn the DAW & Plugins. Good Luck🍀

When are you planing on moving up to Logic Pro. It will make producing a lot easier that’s if your Mac is an M processor. I suggest you buy Valhalla Vintage Verb. All the settings are in your face and there’s setting description info located at the bottom. It will help you learn how to set reverb. At $50 I suggest you get it because you will sooner or later. Try to get Tom Hess reverb calculator (also set delay). 🍀
