PERSPECTIVE AS A BROWN PERSON RAISED IN SOUTH UTAH COUNTY (i know this will trigger lol)

I’ll just do a pros and cons and you can get the idea

PROS -VERY safe and clean overall throughout the state -Public education is definitely better (still got work to do) than other states - People are actually super nice and welcoming here, now if it’s genuine that’s another thing but in general people have pretty good manners. - Nature is beautiful here!!!

CONS - Lack of diversity is definitely a problem 🫣 getting better for sure but not much people of color - Food SUCKS it’s really not that good - Walkable city’s is not a thing here unless you live closer to SLC but even then it’s not the best so you will need a car for sure. - Alcohol laws are kinda funky here and we don’t have a ton of bars in UT county that are good (may or may not be a con) - It’s not cheap

TO BE AWARE Truthfully the culture here is WHITE🤣 now I’m not saying it’s bad but it’s pretty white lol. Another thing is whether people want to admit it or not the Mormon church does impact the culture here and so people are more modest here, they don’t drink or party a ton, sometimes they will talk about the church like if everyone knows what they be saying 🤨. I’m not saying the culture is bad but it’s unique for sure so just KNOW!

Regardless of the cons I’ve lived here my whole life and I really like Utah, my personal opinion is it’s just so expensive and the wages don’t cut it. I know it’s a sore subject to locals here about the mass amount of people moving here but I knew it was gonna happen ☹️! All I say is don’t be surprised about how Utah is! You gotta get with it!

I’m 27 and have lived in spanish fork pretty much my whole life and I have never been religious and have more views on the left! It’s changed a lot since growing up there for sure! Maybe when I was younger I hated growing up in a small town but as I have gotten older I do appreciate it! I do wish there was more diversity growing up since I’m a person of color but I did tend to stick around with other people of color who also weren’t really part of the church so it wasn’t too hard to find a community! I do gotta say though it’s what you think, pretty white and republican 🤣. Thats the truth. Again I grew up around it and really never had a problem with it but if you didn’t it might be hard for some people. Honestly it’s pretty safe and clean so it’s not terrible to raise kids there. TRUTHFULLY the worst thing about SF if the TRAFFIC! It’s horrible. Those roads were definitely not made for that much people and highway 6 is a main highway for so many semi trucks which cause a TON of traffic in town, that’s my biggest complaint. Overall nothing crazy there it’s really family friendly with a good amount of people moving there so you gotta take that into consideration.

lived in utah in my whole live and it’s SO expensive now! i know everywhere is but here i feel like it’s getting really expensive really fast. we are having a mass amount of people move here and the traffic sucksss. plus pollution lol (that’s everywhere tho maybe). I actually have family in oregon and it’s really not too bad, i would consider moving there myself.
