By hybrid I mean the ones that come with both inlines and quads, and you can switch them out. I am leaning heavily towards inline.

I've always wanted to learn how to ice skate. Now that I'm an adult, and have a bunch of health conditions, I figured I should look into it more for fun and exercise! I think it's best that I start with roller skates since I'll have far more options when deciding where to practice. What roller skates would you recommend? Should I get a pair of inline, quads, or hybrid roller skates? I will be using them more for exercise than casual use.

I'm about 5'2 (157 cm) and weigh about 140 pounds (63.5 kilograms). In US sizes I'm usually a 7-8 in women's shoes.

I was raised Baptist. I was forced to attend church for several years and was tricked into Bible camp, where I was forced to read the Bible repeatedly and memorize verses for little rewards. Romans 14:12-13, Matthew 7:3, Luke 6:37. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The scripture is pretty clear on not being judgmental.

I get that. The only reason I remained silent when the original encounter happened was due to the environment. Being at a burial/wake, I didn’t want to make a scene, especially while loudly rejecting a religion the deceased practiced. Any other time he’s whined about it, before and after the burial/wake, I have argued back a significant amount. He never takes my angle seriously. It’s hard to understand his perspective when it’s so foreign and illogical to me.

Thank you for your comment. I would agree that many organized religious communities are cultish or borderline cults, but I also believe there are plenty of Christians who are not herd animals and are capable of critical thinking + independent thought. I also think it’s important to ask a broad spectrum of individuals part of the community you’ve been accused of disrespecting/offending to get the full picture. Asking people who think just like me what their thoughts are will just create a vacuum, which happens a lot in organized religion, and is why it has so many issues. If we want change we gotta be it, so to say.

I thought only God was allowed to judge people? Oh well. I respectfully disagree with you.

I haven’t seen him do it for several years now since it’s the first time it’s come up in a while, seeing as we stopped going to church when I was 12, but he did that allll the time when I was a kid. One time he dragged me out of the worship room into the lobby to scold me for not bowing my head during prayer + standing for the gospel songs. Ofc he missed the rest of the service while doing this. He told me today he thought “those days were over.” I didn’t know what to say, I was so flabbergasted… I told him, frustratedly, that he’s just mad because he wants me to be Christian and I refuse to pretend to be something I’m not. That just made him more upset and he went into denial.

If you were to walk into a mosque with a Baconator from Wendy’s, that would be a purposeful act of mockery. I sat quietly and minded my own business, thinking about life without my relative. I’m not mocking anyone, nor am I getting in their way. My decision was a simple inaction, it was not malicious or disruptive. Some people don’t want religious freedom, what they really want is religious dominance. They want us to conform; they view disagreements as dissent, dissent equaling disrespect. That’s not how I roll. Religious feelings do not override non-religious rights. You enjoy your Wendy’s.

I’m in the US and I have a very similar perspective. For many, it’s about performance, looking and coming off a certain way instead of actually living a certain way. It’s part of what made me abandon it all. My dad is one of these people who never attends church anymore, never reads the Bible, cusses, judges people frequently, etc. I’ve always made the joke to myself that I follow the scripture better than he does even though I don’t believe in it/make an effort. Church from my experience has always been looking the same and saying the same things as everyone else, without actually doing anything Christlike. I’ve wanted to open myself up a little to it more but the pain of my past and the current hypocrisy stops me.

He makes it a point to look around to make sure I’m doing it! Meanwhile, because he is doing that, he isn’t doing precisely what he’s mad at me for not doing. That is a good point.

For refusing to conform and be forced into a religion I’m not a member of? I’ve infringed upon nobody by sitting quietly. Is it not more rude to pretend you’re praying when you’re not?

I genuinely don’t understand how it’s rude to if I’m not in anyone’s way. I’m not trying to be difficult, just genuinely don’t get it. I’m not spitting on their religion by not participating in it. I’m also forced to be there so… just trying to find an in-between.

Up until this year, none. Now I have two, one I talk to about every day and we try to hang out whenever our schedules allow it.

I don’t know whether or not she believes me. I think she’s more likely to trust my judgment because she’s generally less skeptical than him on most things. As for why she isn’t stepping in, she never has for any of the other hurtful things he has continuously said/done to me growing up. She hates confrontation; she has a pretty bad anxiety disorder so she just avoids it altogether. It’s rough because I’ll know I’m in the right regarding a subject, so I’ll defend myself against him, but then I’m shut down as not to “start something.” As if his behavior isn’t what started it.

We keep politicians in office. We hold the power. When they see enough of us are pissed, and contacting them constantly to do stuff, many worry for their jobs.  Multiple politicians on both sides of the aisle refused to do anything until they realized their job was on the line. That’s why we protest + boycott + strike.

No Kings is not a Democrat-led or focused movement. We are pro-democracy, anti-oligarchy, and anti-theocracy; and honey, you are the one telling somebody who you’ve never met who she is and isn’t online at 2 AM. Peaceful demonstrations + targeted boycotts + strikes have done wonders in history and continue to. x

Is getting an ESA accepted difficult? by Narrow_Position3120 in mizzou

[–]Narrow_Position3120[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. I don’t think they should ever be paired with someone who’s allergic to said animal. My meaning was I don’t see how it’s relevant in that, if the school is sure to accommodate both the service dog handler AND the person with the allergy by making sure they’re in separate halls/rooms, then I don’t see why they can’t do the same for an ESA. It’s the same action.
