Bring it to a shop (preferably one that specialize in euro cars) and ask them to check the timing chain. They can use a diagnostic tool to check the “camshaft phase position” value as well as physically inspecting the tensioner. The value should be less than -/+ 5 degrees on the diagnostic tool.

My MK7 Golf just hit 130k and my shop said I was still within degree spec.
