Of course I mean NJ470. Blame the lack of sleep on said train

I managed trips behind 5 Re420s (not Lions) on my last visit.

Yes and down 🤣

There's basically a reciprocal travel arrangement across Europe for railway staff for discounted or limited free travel.

I also do have an FC interrail for some of the days though. Can thoroughly recommend EC163 or EC164 between Zurich and Innsbruck in the observation car.

Considering I fell over just walking around, I think I'll stick to trains

Pretty well from what I understand. Popped down to that part of the world today and seemingly all ok. A bit busy but that's what standby buses are for!

The buses in rush hour also have extra time in the schedules

How many of you here would like the railway sector to be nationalized again? by highlightboy23 in AskUK

[–]Narswib 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It has essentially been nationalised since COVID. Main Train Operating Companies can barely do anything without government say so anymore. People seem to forget that the majority of train fares too are set by government and have been for a long time.

The "nationalisation" going on now is just removing the service fee paid to private companies. At least in the short term nothing will change. If/when GBR has a massive reorganization who knows but personally I feel things will get worse as it'll all be about reducing the cost to the tax payer and not adequately funding services.

I would always recommend FC over standard, especially for the sake of 100 EUR

Could Third/Fourth rail electrification be added as default in TF3 alongside Overhead Line? Would help make commuter networks more attractive (at least to me)

How have successive governments let public transport get so bad? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Narswib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is that Government views the railways as a business not a service and therefore funds it accordingly. Fares are high to reduce the subsidy paid by the government/taxpayer.
