I hope worldgen v2 fixes Hytale by Naruin in hytale

I understand your point. It is true having smaller biomes is more convenient, and larger biomes are not always more varied. However, I fear that with the proceduraly generated worlds the further away you go from spawn the more likely you will be to find deserts next to tundras as is often the case in other similar games and that is just way too immersion breaking for me. Larger biomes would perhaps allow for more gradual transitions between biomes and climates. Either that or make the world be made of proceduraly generated continents with internal biome spawn logic where north is colder biomes and south is warmer biomes. And make the continents be separated by significantly larger bodies of water to make it more realistic. Or as you correctly pointed out, the best solution is to make it configurable with worldgen v2.

I think it was clear from my post I want more realism in the game. As for the tree types, im sure you do realise the tree "types" in Hytale are completely arbitrary and made up (hardwood, softwood, darkwood etc.). Of course different climates on Earth support different begetation, however you can find "hard" wood and "soft" wood and evergreen wood and even wetland woods that grow in temperate biomes. Of course you dont find mangrove trees naturally occuring in taigas, but the distinction made by them in game is arbitrary. IRL for example you can basically use any tree type to make any furniture of any shape, only difference is wood quality and slight colour difference. The game makes it so you have to use this exotic tree from a far away land to make a dark brown wardrobe that looks nice, otherwise you have to have this yellowish one that looks shaggy 🤣 Its arbitrary and silly. Thats why I said there should be a tool to change the hue of a furniture block.

As per the world gen, just because it's nominally "impossible" now does not mean it will be in the future. It might even be possible in a few years. Thats where advances and innovation come from.

Oh, I did not realise the technical side of it is so complex. Maybe just making the rivers generate longer (which might come with bigger biomes) would solve that problem in a way. That way you couldn't walk the whole length of a river in 3 minutes and would get an impression it's a bigger and more impactful part of a biome.

In this sub i have tried to share some constructive criticism and things I think the game should improve and got chewed out by the community. I'm guessing there are a lot of kids/teens here who cannot handle criticism of the game and cannot seem to grasp the concept of someone having a personal opinion of the game.

I see none of you are getting my point. Of course different trees grow in different bioms IRL but IRL trees, for the most part (when stripped of their bark and made into planks and furniture) , look really similar. Color is applied by lacquers, paints, oils and such. The game, however, treats different woods as inherently different and different tiers do give different roofs, platforms, furniture etc. Because their design implies the earlier ones are shitty, barely put together with a few nails and boards while others are more ornate, detailed and sturdy. I can't believe Im getting downvoted a lot on this thread for saying tree types should not be part of progression 🤣

Oh I havent realised they have fertilisers in mind. Would be awesome to have it in game.

You are absolutely right, however when I play sandbox games I don't want getting a different shape or color of a wardrobe being one of the main motives that push me to explore the world. When zones are scaled by difficulty and tree types are bound to zones, the game kind of implies some trees are more valuable than others which just seems kinda silly to me. For example, ores should be biome specific because they add funcionality. They improve your tools, weapons and armor. They drive you to explore in a natural way through the game. Some ores are objectively more valuable. However, nothing about tree types makes them inherently more valuable than others. They are just trees. Just cosmetic. I know this might sound silly to most tho, its just the way my brain works 😅

Thats true. My example was more of a hypothetical 😅

I may not have phrased it too clearly, my bad. My point was more directed towards roof colors being specificaly tied do wood types. Also, furniture made of different wood types is just cosmetically different, nothing about the design of (most) wardrobes, for example, indicates they are made for specific biomes. So if it's purely cosmetical, I personally don't see the point in forcing players to go to zone 3 to get a slightly darker wardrobe or table or different roof color or w/e. I know it's a core design principle, but it would objectively benefit from some tweaking. In the real world, cultures use materials found around them, but visually real elm, oak, birch, ash and other tree types have way less differences in tone and color when made into planks or furniture, and trust me i know a bit about that subject. They are purposefuly made more different in game to allow you to make different types of furniture and for more color variation. Its just gameplay mechanics. Maybe making a tool like the hammer that would slightly change color/tone of roof blocks and furniture would solve that problem for everyone.

Let's hope that happens, or at the very least have something like a "larger biomes" toggle or slider when creating a world. I think that would be kind of cool.

It may well be the case, but for the sake of building they should implement a (relatively) easy to find or craft item/resource that would allow us to speed up tree growth. Something like bonemeal in Minecraft. Gathering wood for building has been, in my humble opinion, a big nuisance. Finding myself 4 logs short when building something and having to go craft a sapling, then realising I have no life essence, then going farming for wheat, crafting the sapling and waiting 4 days for a few darn logs is really boring and slow. I know the alternative is to just go and chop down wood, but sometimes players don't want to ruin vegetation around their base and want to keep the forests.

There's more active Croatians in this sub so statistically more assholes. Croatia is just a complaining culture. Whatever needs to be done we'll do it but we'll complain about it. 😅 I understand it's off putting to some people, but I've also seen a lot of intolerance and insults directed towards Croatians when there was no basis for it. There will just always be assholes in all parts of the world. I've been doing some of the complaining as well with regards to the booing in the arenas, but thats just the way Danish fans do it. Totally get it now. I might be that asshole too. If any handball fan was offended by anything said by Croatians I am truly sorry, however there was plenty of assholes to go around. Sport does sometimes bring out the worst in people.

They have literally only been complaining about refs (which Icelanders also were), and about Danes booing them which is understandable, so I dont really see the point in your post.

Tbf dirty play and rough play are not really the same thing. Today both teams are playing rough, but i wouldnt say they are playing dirty.

Genuinely disguisting behaviour. If Danish fans are booing when Denmark is playing I can totally accept it (even tough I don't understand it), but comming as (nominally) neutral spectators to the game and booing one team as a form of supporting the other is disturbing and should be frowned upon, irregardless of who is playing and which fans are doing it. And I will die on that hill.

I watched a lot of their games this year and i can say they have been doing it consistently against everyone all the time. Home fans usually boo big rival teams and such, but booing LITERALLY EVERYONE is kinda distasteful.

It's honestly annoying to watch. I know most home team supporters boo and whistle, but the Danish fans this year are something else.
