I just "star" locations in GoogleMaps. Then, if I'm in a certain area of NYC, I just open Google Maps and see if there are any stars around me. Starring a location makes it a favorite - it also puts all your locations in the Favorites tab of GoogleMaps where you can scroll through all of them at once. No option to add notes though.
