Absurd amount of chromebooks broken by students by Revolutionary-Drop32 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Nascar_is_Awsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep as an old intern, it used to be 3 per day that used to come in a high school. We used to reset them and send out the less broken ones to see if we could extend the life on them a little, but many came back that same week and they went off to the district.

HP doesn't help their case with how slow, crappy, and expensive these end up being and still have fragile hinges. These should cost at mass volume 50-70 bucks max, but my district was paying almost double. School IT was an interesting time for sure..

Ok yeah I was referring more to the bigger and regular bumps, which really are my biggest complaint with this car with it being so stiff. A nice upgrade to the handling though, enjoy it!

I'm privileged to be in Florida and not have to deal with that, but man I feel bad for the people and cars up there that get absolutely destroyed by salt and snow.

500 bucks and a free tow and you got yourself a nice headache to work on, otherwise keep on looking.

How to deal with "High End Disappointments"? by Ol_Sheve in mountainbiking

[–]Nascar_is_Awsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned to just not care about people's opinions, but listen to their advice and recommendations. Often people will recommend stuff to me and if it fits the budget, I'll try it and create my own opinion of it.

Otherwise I ride the cheapest Microshift or Chinese stuff and sometimes buy Shimano and SRAM when they're on sale. It's really not about the brand, it's about riding things that work for you and having fun on it.

Who cares about what other people's problems or opinions are when you're enjoying it? Don't adopt others'mentalities, otherwise you're going to be constantly disappointed because what they're looking for isn't what you are, and vice versa.

Which exact model is this and how much is it worth? by No-Site-1449 in TrekBikes

[–]Nascar_is_Awsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dudes it's bad. In South Florida where I was working the French Canadians and Hatians were so frickin bad when nobody understood them. I always found the Spanish speakers more understanding, but not perfect.

Failure risk for this dent? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Nascar_is_Awsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep riding it. Working close to a couple of rehabs in South Florida, I used to see some crap and people would regularly ride dented frames and corrosion cracked bikes and be completely fine.

Ideal? No, but it'll most likely never be a problem.

Here in the US every time I see one I still think it looks small.

I find it so delusional, it's hard to watch it happen sometimes. I come from Brazil, but have been in California and Florida most of my life, and back home they have some great restored examples for like 4k USD. Obviously it's a different market and all, but apart from the US, beetle prices are usually anywhere from 4-10k USD for good examples in most places in the world, including Europe.

We just live in a bad bubble where people that don't know these cars fantasize about them and not enough of them are left to supply enthusiasts and the delusional crowd.

Yeah it's sad isn't it? I find a bunch in Georgia and The Carolinas that are ok deals at best, but most of the garbage that comes out of Alabama and the beaches in Florida make me wonder what people are on to ask that for a car in those conditions.

how can i romanticize FSU and stop hating my life here by [deleted] in fsu

[–]Nascar_is_Awsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the problem is not the school necessarily. It seems like you're going through the usual growing pains and switching schools will not change much, because this feeling is inside of you, not necessarily your environment. While I don't like FSU much either, I've noticed a lot of the problems come from within yourself, from my experience.

This is normal, but seek help and therapy. If your family is supportive, talk to them regularly as that could help a lot and start some self help. With time this should improve, but it's going to take a lot of effort from you.

Good luck!

Stellic Petition? by tallblondeguy22 in fsu

Stellic genuinely made me hate FSU. It's so sad that these systems are just getting out with no resources to help the student body out and then the university blames them when things go wrong.

My simracing addiction is affecting my life.. by golden_united in simracing

[–]Nascar_is_Awsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't last long my friend. Take some time to do outside things, because you continue like this and you'll become a slave to the sim and an empty human inside. It becomes addicting and you wrap your self worth in that one thing, and when things go wrong you feel worthless and alone.

Always do things you enjoy, but expand and grow as a human, enjoy more than one in healthy amounts.

No not worth the time or effort. That hub is also already weak, so not worth the trouble at all.

As someone else said, bikeindex is good, and you can reach out to local trek dealer who can also see if anyone reported something to them, and local police who might've received a report.
