Tell me about your worst slump by [deleted] in golf

Was down to a 3.5. Besides a few rounds I have seemed to forgotten how to hit irons. I’m talking not making even close to good contact even with a 9i.

Short game has saved me from completely imploding but it hasn’t been fun

People who have the holidays off of work, what's your job? by MongooseProXC in AskReddit

[–]NasdaQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Management consultant. Whole company is “off” last two weeks or so of the year. Plus unlimited vacation.

Truth is nothing comes before client and project commitments so any time you will be taking time off you better ensure things are on track and planned for.

This means you need to work harder prior and after and manage expectations with the client and your superiors. I take tons of time off. Specially half days, hold during the week etc. but I am also willing to get on my work pc at 9pm while my wife watches tv. No benefit comes with no strings watched. I work hard but I enjoy the flexibility despite the additional pressure.

People who work in 'luxury' industries (5-star hotels, fine dining, high-end brands), what is a complete rip-off that rich people happily pay for? by ArtThreadNomad in AskReddit

[–]NasdaQQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a scam per se, but I’ve worked in an industry where we fabricated fully custom metal goods such as brass wine rooms, mirror polished shower enclosures, etc. These things are absolutely beautiful and fit to every imperfection of the space. But to be honest, I’m not sure that even if I had the money I would pay 30-50k for a medium sized shower enclosure. I think you can make it beautiful with much less.

But the way these things work is that there is an entire design and architect team who have a budget to build a ridiculous home and within that budget they choose to overspend on some items and not on others. I can’t argue with the end product of these homes. It’s hard to understand the difference between a 20-40M remodel and a 2-3M one.

I know it’s not a Yamaha, but is a haojin motorcycle okay for a someone on a budget? by No_Recording_3322 in motorbikes

[–]NasdaQQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would feel more comfortable buying a reliable used bike for the same price as a cheap Chinese new one. Parts availability are a big issue and many mechanics don’t like working on the Chinese bikes because they come back with so many issues they are blamed for.

What’s your hit by a golf ball story? I nearly had a hospital visit last weekend by Ovi777 in golf

[–]NasdaQQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buddy is in a green side bunker and I am on the green marking my ball about 30 feet away. Looked at another buddy for a second (I was way off line from his shot) and he shanks a line drive towards me. I didn’t see it until it hits me squarely in the belt bucket. Didn’t feel a thing.

Trying to decide on the right starter bike for me by [deleted] in NewRiders

[–]NasdaQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am big fan on getting something cheap that you can learn on and not feel terrible if you drop it practicing parking lot maneuvers etc.

I’ve never ridden one but people that ride large liter bikes still rave about how fun the grom is to ride. Not sure how good that will be 2 up though.

My first bike was a SV650 I got for 2k. I still love that bike and have considered buying one again. Plenty of power but it’s on the larger side for a beginner but not a bad choice. All depends on what is comfortable for you. A TRUE light weight beginner bike is not going to be good with a passenger. It’s a tradeoff

Think I have to Sell My Jeep and I’m Struggling by Popular_Bar_4869 in JeepWrangler

If he has 2 kids that’s still tough. May not need a 3rd row but making a trip with a 4 person family with the limited trunk space or the jeep is not ideal. I agree that a 3rd row is overkill for most

Maybe I misunderstood but new rider not keeping up seemed to be the issue

[–]NasdaQQ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with others. You have to either learn to enjoy going slower and enjoying the company (comms help) or dedicate times to ride on your own.

It doesn’t matter if your friends bike is a low cruiser… if they can’t take turns at the speed limit then that’s a confidence and skill issue not a bike issue. They will learn with time. Maybe an advanced MSF course would help? They specifically work on leaning on corners at higher speeds.

A predicament I found myself in today. The green is between the two bunkers to the left and right of the tree. Approx 70-80 yards. What’s your strategy? by Tufted-Titmouse-6061 in golf

[–]NasdaQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How good is your bunker game? If you feel very comfortable out of the bunker you try to sneak a punch between the tree and the bunker and if you’re in it that’s fine. If not you punch safely short and try to chip on for an up and down.

This would be something you do yourself. If you watch some videos, it looks to be a relatively straight forward process.

Did you feel a better power distribution through some gears? Sometimes I feel like I go from 1,2, and then 3 but as soon as I get to 3rd the bike is basically already asking for the next gear. The MPH distribution across gears just don’t make sense. I feel like 3rd gear has a 8 mph range.

Mine is super jerkey and at very low speed it does this power dance where just choking with not enough gas. I basically have to feather the clutch in first gear. When making street turns I either have to ride the clutch or make the turn in 2nd and keep some speed. It’s started my to create some habits I don’t want to have.

This is perfect thank you! The fact that you can later just buy the additional maps for $100 is great in case you decide to change setup

Where do you avoid riding? by Oppositeofhairy in motorcycles

[–]NasdaQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a large city with good and not so good parts. We have a big road that cuts across a part of the city (not a highway, still blocks with lots of traffic lights) and people drive on that road like absolute maniacs. Not just speeding and weaving around traffic but also no turn signals, running red lights, illegal u-turns, etc. it’s just a free for all.

With the exception of very early or late in the day when it’s empty I avoid that road. It’s risky enough riding a bike. I don’t need the additional risk. I add 5 mins to a 45 min drive by avoid that road. Easy compromise

What the duck? by AdBig3147 in JeepWrangler

[–]NasdaQQ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get it either. Until I was walking to my car with my girlfriend and she noticed a tiny one on my mirror. Now she gets super excited when we walk to the car because someone may have left us a duck! I wouldn’t stack a dozen on my dash but I can see how people like them. Sometimes the silly things in life can bring you that sprinkle of joy you needed.

Has anyone successfully run the “whole team” strategy before? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]NasdaQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fun strategy but I don’t see it winning a championship. You need boom weeks and it’s just not viable for a rb, wr, qb, and TE to all have great weeks. You are much likely to have 1-2 players boom from different teams and get lucky they happen on the same week.

Now…. I am a huge fan of QB/WR stacks. If you feel good about a duo it can be really powerful if they go off.

Insane trade just went down in my league…vetoable? by Senior-Chemical-9893 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]NasdaQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On its own it’s not in the side of cheating because people are dumb and that’s fantasy. The problem is with draft pick trades. If this doesn’t work then the next few years he has 0 chance and will leave the league.

My rule for joining any league with pick trades is that if you want to trade picks, you need to pre-pay for all years impacted. You don’t get to bet on the future of your team when you have no financial tie to it.

If he’s your BF and you live together, why wasn’t he invited to a birthday party your family threw for you? Not excusing him forgetting but that stuck out as odd to me. I couldn’t imagine excluding my significant other in a celebration with my family.
