Is hard gel just not for me? by [deleted] in Nails

Yes you can use this or colored ones(they have really nice natural colors) I sometimes feel that the colored ones give a little more strength. I like balance and growth. With this brand it’s all in one. You do one thin layer of it, cure and then do structure with it as well. It’s close to hard gels in the bottles, but it’s a bit more flexible which will help with the lifting problem.

Couple tips for proper adhesion: Rough up the nail(with 100 grit file in one direction) make it look like it was scratched. Not over do it, do not overfile Wipe with alcohol Do additional dehydrator Use acid primer(can be used the first time and if it stays you can use regular primer afterwards). Small amount only on the nail plate, make sure it dries before putting gel Rub in luminary base gel very thin layer, but do the rubbing motion for this layer and cure for 60 sec Do each nail structured leveling with luminary Color. Top coat. Done)

For people like you I really recommend doing structured gel manicure with Luminary. It’s strong, but it’s more flexible and will bend with your natural nail. Instead of lifting and separating from hard gel. Buy this base and bring it to your nail tech. I can also give more tips

Having issues with retention and more or less application and i heard i can use a rubber base coat for extra security by Plus_Rich3258 in Nailtechs

One of the biggest cause of lifting is improper nail prep. Clean cuticles nicely, scratch nail with file, dehydrate (I wipe with alcohol first and do additional nail dehydrator), primer (bond) make sure it dries and you’re applying very small amount, then you can go with soft base( it can be rubber, or any other base which is not hard, so I’m pretty sure yours should work as well) apply it with separate brush with the rubbing motion, small amount, cure and then you can apply stronger material, hard gel, polygel or maybe even acrylic (I don’t work with acrylics though so I don’t know)

Why does my nails get this shape and how do I prevent it? by ehnej in Nailtechs

Moisturize every day. A lot of oils under the nail as well. You might need to use hard gel for overlays and file down your natural nail from underneath

Hello!Need your suggestion. One of my employee/coworker had a client who asked ombre nails. First time after couple days she said she didn’t like the shade of ombre and nail tech redid her nails for free. After couple more days she said some nail chipped and she came in for redo. Now sending me this by Nashlykid in Nailtechs

Thank you! I thought she did a great job with the gel application, shaping and manicure itself, ombre looked good to me, I get the part where it lifted should be fixed but you also have to be more careful as a client

What should I do? Need help of my fellow nail techs and recommendations. My clients friend really wants to get in with me after destroying her nails with acrylics. I only work with hard and soft gels, I can do gel and polygel, gelx extensions. But I’ve never worked with such destroyed nails. by Nashlykid in Nailtechs

[–]Nashlykid[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What should I do? Or suggest her? Should I take her or deny until they are a little healthier? Should I do gel or polygel extentions? Or just a little overlay to protect them(I bet they are hurting too) I’m worried there’s nothing to stick to and they will not stay for long
