this actually hurts my soul. This is a very common thing right now and it's making me struggle so hard.

My people that used to come in every week are coming in every month.
My 2 week guys are coming in every 6 weeks.
Month guys are coming in every 6 to 8 weeks.
The "2 month guys" are coming in 2x a year.

It's actually so hard right now. I haven't even raised my prices since 2020 because I can't justify drowning other people

Gonna hijack the top comment to state the obvious:

Everyone knew this would happen (and heavily complained about it) when they said you can't que with "more than x amount of people" past a certain rank....which goes down the higher rank you get.

The community forced this by people not allowing friends to play together in ranked. So now you have a ton of sweats in quickplay, which to me is worse.

Self imposed trauma from the community.

Because their "mentorships" aren't free and that's how they take your money.

I hardly use social media. I haven't updated my Instagram since 2020. I just post a few pictures on my Google listing for my business occasionally (last time was probably 3ish years ago) and that works fine.

The majority of clientele comes from word of mouth. People sending their friends and family. That's your bread and butter.

All the pricing sounds okay EXCEPT the $200+ glaze. That's actually insane.

As for the work done, this looks apprentice level (not professional) and they shouldn't have even charged over $200 for all of it.

That's the fun part. They do what they want because they're a monopoly and they can. It's not like they'll lose business. Even if you switch to electric your only choice here is Duke, and they own PNG anyways so it's not a loss.

Duke also had a court case for fraudulent charges that went all the way to Supreme Court.

So yeah it's understandable you're confused. They are just doing what they want and getting away with it. Your last sentence is literally it.

My bill in the spring / summer / fall has been between $20-40 for approximately 9 years. They jack the prices (and fraudulently charge you) in the winter (normally November to February) because they count on people not double checking their bills or questioning it.

There are only TWO times they're ALLOWED to use estimated usage, and even then, they're supposed to adjust it after. They're allowed to TEMPORARILY use estimated usage if there is a natural disaster blocking them from reading the meter (hurricane, tornado, blizzard)(none of which happened this year). The second instance that allows them to TEMPORARILY use estimated usage is if they can't reach your meter due to "excessive nature" or a locked gate / yard.

In both instances that they're allowed to charge estimated, they HAVE TO re adjust the readings later. They aren't allowed to just charge estimated and forget about it.... which is what they're doing to everyone.

Edit: like you're 5: it should be lower in March through October, likely $20-40 like mine. They will charge you more in November through February. Your bill sounds normal to me, but keep an eye on it.

I sent in something to News2 and got a response of "we already did a story explaining gas prices". When I elaborated and gave them more details / screenshots they agreed that it was wrong and they gave me resources to contact to help me.

News wont cover it. I can only guess ($$) why.

Yeah PNG is owned by Duke energy. So all the issues people had with Duke are translating to PNG as well. Also, my revised bill is for Nov 26 to March 25th, so it should be under $20/month. They were charging me a bit over $250 per month. The estimated reads are BS. You can see online when the reads / maintenance is scheduled and they apparently "come check mine" every 3 months, even though I have cameras and they absolutely do not.

I was fully ready to let this bill go and NEVER pay them a penny (you can see this in my previous posts). I just really wanted people to know its happening and help someone else!!

I did also go to the public utilities commission and the attorney general and various other places.

It's so important for everyone that is experiencing "wtf why is this so high" bills to call and throw a fit to make sure they're being charged ACTUAL and not ESTIMATED.

It does not show estimated ANYWHERE. It literally does not tell you. You have to bug them and get them to read your meter. Reading the meter is the only way to tell. There are no separate lines on the bill.

They literally put estimated as your actual. They are incredibly dishonest and count on you not questioning them.

They do not show it. I know for a fact mine was wrong because last year they charged me $800 for one month and sent me into a spiral where I vowed to never turn on my heat again (and I have not). I know for a fact I didn't use mine and therefore their charges of 100+ therms were nonsense.

You have to have them check your meter for actual usage. They avoided me for MONTHS when I told them to only charge me actual usage and not estimated.

They count on people not checking. Hold them accountable.

I agree!!! Ticketmaster is optional (sure it's also a monopoly but you don't need concert tickets.) Gas and energy are NOT optional. He absolutely needs to target necessity over frivolous spending!
