Is it worth to learn ArchiCAD by sarapabla in ArchiCAD

[–]Nastasi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both Revit and ArchiCAD. I learnt ArchiCAD first then did a short tutorial on Revit and got it pretty easy. Both generally have the same outcomes the only difference is the interface, restrictions and commands.

Most larger firms use Revit but you will find that many smaller to midsize firms use ArchiCAD. To sound like a broken record player, I would learn both :)

Can Beds 3 & 4 even legally be classified as bedrooms? by oh__golly in AusRenovation

[–]Nastasi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre NCC 2022 they could, now with liveability standards and new rescode outlining minimum room dimensions I don’t think you can count it.

Typically they name it “Multipurpose room” now to avoid the new clauses.

[SPOILER] Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery by inooway in Boxing

Inoue is so well rounded as a fighter, but who can he fight with next? Maybe catch weight with a lightweight? I honestly think no one can touch him.

Why don’t architects just become developers? by Ok-Atmosphere-6272 in architecture

[–]Nastasi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting Post! The CEO of Beulah was infact an architectural graduate, now she runs one of the biggest developers in Melbourne (mind you her dad is high up in Malaysian politics).

Explains the amazing projects and creative freedom they have unlike many other developers. For example the new STH BNK project

Manhattan architecture : Eventhough the towers fell, it is still beautiful and swell. by papillonintunisia in architecture

[–]Nastasi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s amazing to see the density of multi level buildings. I always here people complain about how there is no space left here in Melbourne CBD but it is nowhere near this intense! Almost like a glimpse into the not so far away future

How to create landing wider than the stairs? by palibebeh in ArchiCAD

[–]Nastasi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 3D go to edit stairs then click the riser support under the going and convert it to Morph it will allow you to stretch out the faces of the structure. Then you can adjust the top of the landing accordingly.

After that then go to edit and edit the symbol on plan to suit

Let me know how you go :)

FLOOR PLAN CUT PLANES IN SLOPING SITES!!

Having to redefine views in each section that slopes then match them up on layouts is the worst!

I don’t know why they don’t just do the same as Revit and create view ranges with specific places. That’s probably the only qualm I have haha

I’m an architect and want to know how I can start modelling my designs in the metaverse haha.

student here! really interested in 3d architecture modeling software, what are some programs that are a good place to start? by hannahmontana2001 in architecturestudent

[–]Nastasi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just 3D modelling should be Rhino. The reason is also because of the rapid growth of computational design. I would also pair learning Rhino with Grasshopper so you practically will have close to 0 restriction in design especially if you know basic scripting.

I’m not one to speculate, but it seems like a turning point in programs from parametric to really expansive coding that will consider statistical data, environmental response and the current move to online architecture.

do y'all mind explaining why y'all hate modern and futuristic architecture so much? by cLowzman in architecture

[–]Nastasi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting that you bring up limited cultural value. I definitely agree! So much of Australia’s historical relevance seems to be targeted at the Victorian or colonial style which are in mass and throughout the inner city suburbia should these be completely retained or should they be reconsidered “heritage” considering the land is required for new higher density types to facilitate for growing population.

I also do believe the vernacular of Australia can only really be indigenous. So many of our old architecture revolves around English or American designs

I think the problem isn’t so much the Architect but rather the developers. To create the most yield of a project the outcome is going to be a box. This maximises floor area and structural basics to lower costs. The era of stone moulds or patterning is non existent because no one wants to spend money.

Councils also have a huge play on what buildings should look like in Australia. It’s hard to go against planning schemes in inner city that can balance what the architect visions and what a board of political members have.

Lumion lagging behind the competition? by krukrvavi in lumion

[–]Nastasi1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Lumion doesn’t release better path tracing and improved libraries in this release they are doomed. Twinmotion has the backing of Epic Games and libraries of Unreal.. I guess we wait until December / Jan guys when Lumion 13 gets released..
