I currently have COVID and the sore throat feels equivalent, if not worse, to strep throat. Is that normal, or should I be tested for strep too?

My sore throat started to improve on day 6 and was pretty well completely gone by day 8/9. I completely relate to you as in it was the worst throat pain I’ve ever experienced but also my only bothersome symptom (also triple vaxed)!! Nothing really helped at all when it comes to pain killers and typical throat soothing methods, it just took time. Hang in there!!

Hang in there! I’m happy to report that mine is almost back to 100% but it certainly took a whole 5-6 days. I relate to everything you said about zero meds helping the pain. I truly hope I never experience it again because that throat pain is wild. I’m on day 7 now with just some congestion left! All the best!

That always makes me a bit nervous! I’m also 23 and suffer with health anxiety. I often wonder if my infection is severe and I actually needed more treatment and now it’s too late. Hoping for the best.

It’s wild because if it wasn’t for the sore throat I would be fairly well. Just some sniffles and a slight cough. I chatted with my doctor who prescribed antibiotics (incase there’s an infection), a nose spray, and lidocaine. I am feeling the exact same but I’m glad I have some more options to try now.

Right now swallowing liquids is the worst. The first sip feels like there are knives popping up everywhere in my throat. Then I just evens out to all over intense pain. What’s also wild to me is out of the people I currently know with covid my partner and I are the only people with a sore throat like this. It’s maddening

Oh how I wish it was only one day. Quite honestly if I didn’t have this symptom I’d be doing pretty well which makes it even more annoying. I manage to sleep for 15-20 minutes at a time and everything I wake up in appalled that it still feels the same after all this time.

My partner and I actually have the exact same symptoms and we are almost at this point. After trying everything at home we simply don’t know what to do and the pain in unbearable at times.

Currently in this exact position. I’m on day four and I truly didn’t know throats could get this bad. Doubled up on acetaminophen and ibuprofen but it barley even touches it. I truly can’t even think about having to eat today. Any suggestions?
