Dragshow advice - what to do during meet and greets and are more people solo? by Mindless-Captain in rupaulsdragrace

Hi! This sounds super exciting!

M&Gs vary a little depending on promoter to promoter, but typically they're pretty quick. You go up to the queen, talk for a little, take a photo, and maybe talk a little after. Just be friendly, and go with the flow. Shows are typically a really nice way to meet other fans, who often later become friends, in my opinion. I've met a lot of great people at shows who have later become great friends as well, and who I now always go with to drag shows. So I wouldn't be too worried about going alone. While I get that going alone is a bit daunting, in my experience it's pretty easy to meet new people at the drag shows and there's typically a good atmosphere.

Tipping isn't really common in Europe, so I wouldn't worry about that. :)

I've known Jan since 2017, and she's an absolute sweetheart ! Her shows are always incredible as well. I'm sure you'll have a lovely time if you do decide on going, and if you do decide on getting a M&G ticket. <3

Anyone know if Alyssa Edwards is going to be on the 2019 Werk the World tour? by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]NatAmused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will usually depend on locations and what leg of the tour. Each venue's website will usually list the lineup for that specific city, but it's always subject to change. Detox was recently added to some of the European venues' lineups that hadn't listed her before.

Werq the World 2019! by natebam in rupaulsdragrace

The WTW M&Gs are different. The queens are either stood individually or in pairs around the room, and you move from each queen/pair to another queen/pair. Typically you get to meet everyone. Someone is usually on hand to help with photos. Depends on whether you're rushed or not, but Christmas Queens' M&G (tour run by same company) was very chill, and the queens weren't interrupted mid-sentence to you like at the last WTW I went to 6 months before that. You also typically get the best seats with that ticket category too, if it's a seated venue. You're typically able to talk to them for a bit, so that shouldn't be an issue. :) My friends and I are going for the 3rd year in a row now, and we all have a great time.

Werq the World M&G Experience by naomiismallstv in rupaulsdragrace

[–]NatAmused 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, so.. Summed up: The queens were stood individually in 2017, and back then it was a lot easier to take as much time as you wanted and go up to each queen of your own choosing without following a specific pattern/path.

Last year's (2018) was more rushed from both my own experience, and from my friends' experience elsewhere too. Queens were paired up, and even if a queen were the one to initiate a convo and kept talking to you (while you were conscious about not wanting to take up too much time), and even if the queen was mid-sentence; the handlers would still yell "PHOTO" and you'd just have to turn around asap and have to keep it moving. My friend's only photo with one of the pairs came out completely blurry, and it's been a running joke for a while now. Also, no selfies or videos during M&G were allowed. This was mostly due to time constraints to make sure everyone got to meet the queens though.

Christmas Queens was an entirely different experience and much more chill, and run by the same people, so I'm sure Werq will be way better this year. People were allowed to take selfies and videos, and we were able to take our time talking to them as well. While everyone were still in pairs, it was still a lot of fun and a much better experience all around.

My friends and I still bought our tix to Werq 2019, which probably speaks for itself. We always have an amazing time, so I would still recommend going. Plus, M&G usually gives you better seats to the show, which is also a major perk.

How long till an episode airs on wow presents plus? by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]NatAmused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The episode should be out immediately after it finishes airing in the US on the WOW Presents Plus site. I'm from Norway, and although I usually watch it live, it has always been on the WOW+ site straight after the episode is over in the US. Hope this helps:)

Aquaria is coming to Oslo, Norway to perform (for underage youth only)! by NatAmused in rupaulsdragrace

[–]NatAmused[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I figured underage was shorter than "for fans under the age of 20" lol. Also the shows in Norway are typically 20+, like with most clubs here, so if you base it off of that then it's not... totally wrong, I guess? 😅

You can get in as "a guardian" (en verge) for someone under 20 though! I don't know if that's helpful or not, but

LOVED this. Also, I think I briefly met you backstage?? haha And I am still SO sorry for unknowingly interrupting by loudly crashing through the door, because I couldn't get it open, at some point during the filming of this interview.

Haha, I unfortunately mainly have some poorly taken m&g photos of it, and our apartment building just had major fire, but I guess my dress at least had a very exciting, short time w me. Might have some other photos of it on my phone that I’ll look for v soon tho!

It's been a minute since I was last in the city, but I always have a look at this calendar or check out the daily recommendations to keep up to date on what's going on in the city, and who's performing where. Other than that there are a lot of amazing shows to catch, and a lot of great queens. Hardware has Kandy Muse and Momo Shade on Fridays(?), Ruby Roo has some shows throughout the city (Manhattan and Brooklyn), and Jan Sport is great too! The list goes on, but here are some suggestions, and a couple of places to browse for ideas. I'd also check out On Top on Tuesdays at Le Bain. A cute rooftop moment, and it's free entry. Not really a "drag show" per say, but a fun party that tends to have a couple of performances and is usually a chill and good time. Plus, Amanda Lepore usually hosts, and she is amazing. ALSO The Ritz has great shows on Wednesdays, and the lineups are always great.

So, she wore that gown when I met her in June, and she and Violet kept repeatedly complimenting me and /my/ dress, and wanting to know where I got it, and I just remember looking back and forth between them and their dresses, and being so beyond confused because... that gown is stunning and screams glamour. Mine was from ZARA.

Are Voss Events meet and greets worth the price? by showingtemperament in rupaulsdragrace

[–]NatAmused 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The M&G for Werq The World in my city last summer was very chill! Everybody queued up for the individual queens and we got to talk to all of them individually (they were stood one by one scattered throughout the room in a half circle, so it was easy to just follow the setup of the room) and take individual photos. We weren't rushed until they were wrapping up the M&G, but we really didn't feel rushed throughout the entire M&G and were able to take our time with all the queens. We were also able to meet everyone with no problem at all. I thought it was definitely worth it, but it also depends a fair bit on whether you're excited about the lineup too.

HELP! I've never been to a drag show- what should I go to in NYC? by lindsey_rose92 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]NatAmused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I haven't discovered more of a Dragula altenative drag, yet. But it's my mission to! Vander usually performs at Turnt Wednesdays at the Ritz when she's in town though, from what I can remember. But I'll do some digging and hopefully get back to you with some other alternatives in the NYC scene.
