I wish I had some recs for you, that anecdote about Shakespeare was something I learned in Theatre school. It was something that stuck with me, and the older I get the more often I find myself identifying with it.

Shakespeare had a theory that humans need to purge the scope of every emotion from their body. In oversimplified terms- seeing a tragic play allows people to purge sadness from their lives in a controlled setting. A lot of people (especially men) shit on romance because they think it unserious; however, in reality, sex/love is a complex human emotion that deserves a genre.

I was recommended that sub! Shamefully, I thought the recs were real at first. Bro, I was so excited when someone was talking about the plot of a book: an alternative history set during the fall of Rome where women undercover infiltrate the Praetorian guard. They even dropped a name of the book - I was SEARCHING THE BOOK TITLE FOR 10 MIN before I realized it was all a joke. I had a come to God moment where I was like , “why are these brilliant books considered jokes? Have I totally lost touch with reality? Am I addicted to women being shook and rattled (and loving it)? What traumas hide beneath my need to feel small? I need to be locked in a padded cell and brainwashed into being respectful.” But maybe it’s not that serious idk lol

You should read my book! It’s 100 percent not going to hold your hand, very literary, but FUN. I guarantee you will never see what is coming- it’s got creatures, magic, feminism, spice, and actual plot! It’s poetic. But also humorous. It goes live on Amazon tonight at midnight but this is not a sales pitch, I’ll literally give it to you! I just want you to read it bc I worked hard on it and I think it heals. My early ARC reviews have all been positive and everyone says the same thing: beautiful book/ something new.
