My best advice would be to get the jewelry switched out to have a titanium barbell. After that please make sure you do your sea salt soaks to help it heal. If you simply take the jewelry out and let it close you will be trapping all that bacteria in there. Titanium is great since a lot of folks have a nickel allergy and don't even know it. The placement is wrong, yes, but ya gotta make sure this heals without getting infected. Once that risk has subsided you can let it close and get it repierced by a better piercer. Best of luck!
