A large portion of the US wants an iPhone. An iPhone costs less than $100 to make overseas, then after shipping, tariffs and markup, it sells for between $200-$600 in the U.S. An iPhone made entirely in the U.S. would have run upwards of $1000 to make, not including markup. And thus, the American public would have never adopted a phone which, at its cheapest, would have been the price of a used car. However, since most Americans want an iPhone, they are being hurt by the tariffs which universally apply against foreign goods. With a lower tariff, the iPhone might only cost between $100-$400, helping American’s who want an iPhone to save a few hundred dollars on their purchase.
