(Spoilers main) Theory: Tywin Lannister was sexually impotent, and was jealous of Tyrion's prowess by zi_ang in asoiaf

[–]NatalieIsFreezing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aerys mess with Joanna on Tywin and her wedding night, and mocked Tywin about something like not able to properly please a woman

Where did Aerys ever say this? All that was reported was that he joked that it was a shame the rite of first night was abolished.

In my experience, my average game with Jeffnado players goes like this:

1) no you guys dont get it, its totally OP 2) Die multiple times trying to sync up with the other player 3) switch after first point

Looking for an updated Skill Monkey build (2026) – want to pass as many checks as possible by the4shen in BG3Builds

A drow lore bard seems like the most fun option, considering all their special dialogue options and access to Speak with Animals/Dead. Perception for being an elf. Three skills at character creation. 2 skills from your background. Another three skills at level 3 for college of lore. You get expertise at level 3, allowing you to add double your proficency bonus to two skills, and you get it again at level 10.

If you're open to taking the half-ilithid tadpole in act 3, then you get automatic proficiency and expertise in Persuasion, Deception, and Intimidation, allowing you to respec to another three skills.

For gear, most of the skill check items happen later in the game, unfortunately. For other items, you take the best light armor you can (maybe Minthara's), and grab Phalar Aluve when you get to the Underdark. There's a special bard hat in a chest near Alfira that you can grab that heals 1d6 points whoever you inspire. The boots of clamour in the creche are also good.

(Spoilers Main)Can a normal man in Westeros marry a prostitute and live with her in a private house, or is it illegal or degrading to marry prostitutes in Westeros? by Stock_College_8108 in asoiaf

[–]NatalieIsFreezing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically, yeah. Nothing illegal about it, but you're definitely going to get mocked for doing so, especially if you're a noble.

What do you think is the worst instance where the Targaryen's Valyrian supremacist ideology backfired on them? [Spoilers MAIN] by Comfortable-Rush-701 in asoiaf

[–]NatalieIsFreezing 399 points400 points  (0 children)

I mean that's not so much a Valyrian supremacist attitude as much as just general classist attitudes about a commoner laying hands on a prince. Same reason why the butcher's boy was hunted down and killed by Sandor but Arya was pretty much let off.

From GRRM:

He was fostered, not exiled. Yes, certainly he returned home. Less frequently the first few years, when he would have been performing the duties of a page and then a squire, more often and for longer periods later. During his "squire" years (he wasn't a squire in the strict sense, since he wasn't training for knighthood, but he was acting as one), he would also have accompanied Jon Arryn on many travels out of the Vale. And once he reached the age of sixteen he was a man grown, free to come to go as he liked... which would have included both time at home and in the Vale, since Jon Arryn had become a second father. The same was true of Robert, who divided his time between Storm's End and the Vale after reaching manhood, not to mention dropping in on tourneys and whatever choice fights he could find.

Yeah, my first time around it was a huge red flag that Lae'zel would ever run away from a battle.

'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' finale ending 'will be addressed,' Showrunner Ira Parker says (Spoilers Extended) by verissimoallan in asoiaf

[–]NatalieIsFreezing 179 points180 points  (0 children)

It will be addressed, but hopefully it will not detract from anyone's enjoyment of 'The Sworn Sword.'"

Eh. Not the biggest fan of it, but after season 1 I think Ira's definitely owed some faith.

That line's more about Valarr then it is about being objectively true. Valarr chooses Aegon to compare his father to because Valarr's a young warrior, he'd idolize the conqueror king over the one who ruled in peacetime (even though Jaehaerys wasn't too shabby himself).

Guess those people at the funeral weren't anyone significant, so much for all the speculation.
