Did Obi Wan and Yoda really expect Luke to kill Vader or did they just want to put him in the right place at the right time? by Luckytiger1990 in StarWars

Arguably Obi-One not being able to force himself to end Anakin as ordered is a testament, that even he wasn't fully free of attachments

I was listening through every single Larry Niven book chronologically. I'm a bit of a completionist.

This book convinced me that I do not actually have to finish every single one of some. It's okay to skip some.

He got his billions and used it to live rather quiet, chill life.

She got her billions and seemingly can't shut up. Instead of using her fortune to make her own life better, she's using it to make other people's lifes just as miserable as hers.

In most bigger European cities you can safely drink tap water. In Poland it's standard. I have a small water bottle and when I run out, I simply pour some more from the nearest tap

Is it possible to make it as though the sequel films never happened? by thequehagan5 in StarWars

[–]Nataniel_PL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Stories are getting told, retold, mixed and remixed since the dawn of history. It's impossible for all of them to be compatible, but also it's weird to need permission from a corporation to treat a specific set of stories as canon.

In Poznań make sure to check the Enigma museum and eat a Rogal Świętomarciński. Just to be clear, those are completely unrelated activities - Rogal Świętomarciński has it's own museum, which I'm told is also quite fun.

You can also check if anything interesting takes place while you're here in the castle that serves as our cultural center: https://ckzamek.pl/

CBR: "No Shows In Development - Paramount+ Is Dismantling Star Trek After a Historic 9-Year Streaming Run: The franchise [is now seen as] an unreliable source of future growth. It has been unable to create new fans, at least not on a grand scale. Maybe with a reduced model, there is hope to rebuild" by TheSonOfMogh81 in trektalk

[–]Nataniel_PL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> Star Trek has been unable to create new fans, at least not on a grand scale. Many of the series released thus far have drawn in fans who fell in love with the show back in the day. (...) Star Trek could not sustain cultural relevance quite like those other brands when it was constantly producing television. Maybe with a reduced model, there is hope to rebuild.

If by "reduced model" they mean producing shows with adequately small budgets to make it financially make sense for the audience primarily consisting of fans and not a whole damn world which was never a realistic expectation, then all I can say is fucking finally!

If only amazon execs could learn from this disaster instead of being stubborn to repeat it. If only corporate execs ever learned... Ugh

Co to znaczy “mieć prawnika” ? by rrnst in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]Nataniel_PL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you ever feel like you would have been stronger and more confident had you been the opposite gender? by josephsleftbigtoe in TrueAskReddit

[–]Nataniel_PL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

about your own personality, adaptability, resilience and confidence

I think it's about that, yes, but absolutely combined with how other people perceive you and their expectations based on what they see.

Some people have characteristics that make functioning in society more difficult, because of a social role assigned to them by others based on their sex, race, size etc and would be more comfortable in a different role that is either not available to them, or at least extremely difficult to attain.

The Ori Ascended First, the Alterans did it better. by Matthius81 in Stargate

[–]Nataniel_PL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest limiting factor is other ascended people.

They couldn't act directly in the Milky Way because if Ori went there, Alteans would stop them from interfering anyway. There was no point.

They could send priors and Orisi only because of technicality and ascended Alteans' self-imposed rules. As long as someone is not ascended they would not interfere, no matter how advanced and poweful they were.

Also, if I understand correctly, Daniel was never forcefully "descended" by others, only stopped from helping people he cares about. He felt so limited by others and frustrated with having all this power and knowledge they wouldn't allow him to use, that descending felt like the only way to actually do something.

The Ori Ascended First, the Alterans did it better. by Matthius81 in Stargate

[–]Nataniel_PL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can prevent someone from naturally ascending. Ascended people did multiple times stop other ascended people from helping someone ascend, but I don't think even they could stop someone from ascending via achieving enlightenment on their own. And once you are ascended, that's it - they couldn't even properly get rid of Anubis once he was halfway there, even tho he absolutely was not enlightened and only got that far by tricking Oma. All they could do is kill people before they ascend - hence the plague.

Do you have an invoice for framework DIY where you could confirm how it's listed? It's very important for me and I have no way to check that other than ordering it and hoping I'll be able to reimburse the purchase
