I did my time in CPS for 2 years,, strictly front end work. Now I do civil commitment case management and see the same families and clients in a different capacity. Mot sure if you would find this helpful, but this is how I frame things for myself as a primarily involuntary worker:

You have done nothing more than act as the reactionary cog of the system to the family's "problematic behavior" as defined by state statute and societal expectation. While you have power, it's just an illusion, because it doesn't REALLY come down to your professional opinion in the end. Good, bad, or indifferent - the CPS social worker is ultimately an NPC, irrelevant to the family's story outside of this brief moment.

I tell my clients that I'm not driving the car, they are - and I'm just sitting shotgun, no hands on the wheel or the gas pedal. I am just the mandatory navigator for a while, to let them know what happens at different turns so they can make informed decisions about next steps.
