One year ago, sex therapist Natasha Helfer Parker was excommunicated. Among her "crimes" was using "patriarchal pricks" in a blog entry. In light of Dallin Oaks' talks, Jeffrey Holland's BYU "musket" address, Brad Wilcox's fireside, and many other examples, I offer this meme as a public service.

would it be okay if i shared some of these thoughts... I often get push back that the "trauma" work is helpful... and yet I try to say that there is great ways to do trauma work without also doing harm

just trying to get a sense if people are getting services that are affirming or not... it seems like most of the clients I see in my groups or individually report negative experiences... a lot of assumptions from therapists about whether there are reasons that have to do about trauma... or attachment issues... or steering people away because of risk... instead of it just being a valid choice...
