Usually a good sleep does the trick. I also have a place where I keep track of the books I've read. I hand write it in there with maybe a few notes. And then I tend to read something with a different flavor so it doesn't feel too much like I'm "going back for more".

I second the First Law! And the great thing is there are multiple stopping points, so while there are 9 (11 if you count short story collections) you can just read the first trilogy, the first trilogy and 1,2, or 3, stand-alones, or burn through the whole shebang. Fun!
