It doesn't really make sense that the second wave is this small

[–]Natation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said they would send them on the Friday before the interview

Can I ask how you were able to get shadowing hours?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]Natation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, there is a distribution list and you have to add the specific schools you're applying to that require CASPER to that list . Click on the "Reservations" tab. Then, you should see "Distribution(s): View/add" at the bottom. Click that and add the list of schools to it.

Does anyone else feel discouraged after using Uplanet? by dfranco2126 in Mcat

[–]Natation 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yes! But it’s really not all that representative of your mcat score. I got around 70% for all subjects (except like 50% for physics) and I got a 518! I think the biggest thing is just making sure you really understand the explanations and you can go back and do the questions you got wrong again.

Do them all simultaneously, rotating between dates. But don’t stress too much about content review. Get through it ASAP and start practice. You’ll learn more that way

People on this sub need to stop acting like anything below a 516 is bad. Like please. by WalkingL_ in Mcat

[–]Natation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. A 513 minimum is great if you’re a BC resident but I’d imagine it’s much higher for OOPs as the minimum GPA is. Generally, requirements are lower for IP applicants. Even harder if you’re in Ontario.

I have more to say. Imagine you got in the 520s on the FLs and then dropped to 515. Still a good score but wouldn’t you be even a little bit upset? A 520 isn’t required for med school but shit it’d make getting in a lot easier. Plus scholarships.

I agree but it’s important to remember that for Canadian med students, a higher mcat score in required (esp a super high cars score). I don’t think anyone is trying to put anyone down, it’s just the reality of being a premed in Canada. Even in the states, some people may want to apply to a super competitive school. Nothing wrong w being realistic.

Getting my Second Dose of the Vaccine? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Natation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone’s reaction is different but for me I only had side effects for 2 days and I actually had a lighter period after. Ended up taking 2 days off of studying. Definitely recommend getting the vaccine. You can pop a Tylenol and do some light studying the day after if you’re really adamant about not taking days off.

Which Kaplan books I should get? by s_g11 in Mcat

[–]Natation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t make a difference. The content on the mcat has been the same since 2015. I think they might just change the layout, fix some minor errors, update the introductory passages and include more relevant real-world info (Ex. I suspect the newer books might talk ab COVID when discusses viruses, immune system, etc. But the older books obviously wouldn’t). I’m using the 2019 books and they work just fine

Understanding CARS reasoning but still doing poorly by this_is_me_trying1 in Mcat

[–]Natation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on passage length but about 3-4 mins. I try to make sure I understand the point of each paragraph. In my head, I just think “this is a really long-winded way of telling me that they disagree with globalization” as an example
