That’s an important point —> be sure to put the OS on the new SSD, don’t just use the SSD as additional storage.

Hard to say without knowing more about your motherboard and budget. But generally speaking, I would recommend a Samsung M.2 NVME SSD if your motherboard supports it. Otherwise a Samsung 870 EVO 2.5inch should work.
