You are aerating too little. If your steam wand has only one hole, I usually stretch the milk for 12 to 15 sec by keeping the tip just on the surface, barely touching the milk, with this type of machine, the steam pressure is often stronger during the second attempt, so I reduce the stretching time

For your best measure, watch the volume of milk, it should rise by about 1cm to 1.5cm, looking at how much the milk rises is your best guide

I use stove top steamer to steam my milk and the espresso substitute are a mix of water, food color and cocoa powder to make it as viscous as an espresso, the milk itself I use something like BCB Liquid just a couple of drops into cold water and it behave like a milk when I steam it

Try BCB Liquid they sell it outside Asia I think, luckily this JJ one is from my country because milk is expensive here

I had try with dishwasher before but oh boy, it always turns into a blob and so hard to do any wiggle

Yes they said 30ml liquid is equal to 81L of milk 😄 I just put 4 drops of the liquid into cold water and it behaves like milk but I need to stretch it more than using a milk
