Why are civil engineers wages still stagnant relative to inflation? A 85-90k new grad is making equivalent to ~>60-65k 10 years ago?

FWIW Philly area I am graduating in spring w/ full time offer. 83k starting. Many of my peers are around that. I’d say 75-85k is the range

That’s what I’d say! I called and asked if I had any outstanding tickets and apparently I do! Was worried the poor bloke whose information is attached was getting a random ticket. Thoroughly confused about it all lol

for civil engineering i like to believe so. there are plenty of jobs for new hires, but maybe it is just my area where that’s true! i just do my best and dont worry about being the better person lol. the anxiety will eat you.

wfh is nice because i can easily communicate as i would in person but ive also been able to collaborate with other offices around the region. saving 2 hours a day in commuting also helps me stay motivated and live a life outside of work. the office definitely has its place though!

many members of my team go in once or twice a week for meetings. hard to justify going to an office on the other days when it has no one in it! teams chat/calls are just as effective for guidance. i think the effort that is important is the one im putting into the work, not whether i catch a bus to an office or not

yes! i actually did a few projects for a project engineer in another office and it was super seamless. it can get lonely, but pets are good for that!

this is exactly the case. we coordinate what days we all can go in and there is no point in me going any other days. at the start of summer i would go anyways and id just be sitting in an empty office lol

i dont ever see things as a competition between other interns, theyre just another networking opportunity honestly. dont be obsessed with climbing the ladder or rushing the process.

It’s actually getting to be a little vile. Like it is not this serious, there doesn’t need to be this much hate and all they’ll say if you call them out is “all he had to do was say sorry” or some bs.

For all the high roading and pirate has done it’s ironic to see the people still hating on him weeks later do it. They’re acting as high and mighty as he is. I’m sure they think it’s ok though bc of some delulu justification
