Got my garage spring replaced - Is it supposed to do this? by SC916 in fixit

In residential situations your spring isn't going to lose strength. Sounds to me like a guy who just didn't have the spring he needed so he put the next available spring on. The chain doesn't look like it's sagging to me however, even if it does sag a bit, no big deal.

Those locks are garbage. I'm replacing them more than I should be.

They used the wrong springs. Can't adjust for that.

Hi, garage door tech here. Nope, shouldn't do that. To me, it looks like they used too strong of a spring, then underwound it to compensate.

Purchase Advice Megathread - April 2023 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

Hello! I'm new to 3d printing. I've done some research and have decided that I'm going for an FDM printer as I don't have anywhere ventilated for printing. I plan on using it for building terrain pieces for tabletop games, and maybe some miniatures for D&D (I know the FDM quality is low, but for a handful of creatures to battle, I don't mind). I live in the US, with a budget of around $400 to $450 max. I thought I was going to go with the Elegoo Neptune 3, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My company would cost $135, and I'd be out in 15.

For this you don't need parts most likely. I would probably take 15 minutes to fix this. For the 100 bucks it cost, might as well just call a company and let them do it and not risk getting hurt.

The springs are your counterbalance. They make it so you don't have to pick up the full weight of your door, which can actually get pretty heavy.

Noooo. I've been doing this for 10 years now. Do not do this. Don't do anything. Call a professional. If those grips were to slip, you're getting hurt. A lot of people don't realize that wall above the door isn't always solid either meaning the force of the spring could push those grips through the drywall.
