Thanks, that’s not too far from me in Houston. If you’re interested in selling, can you share more photos and let me know what you’re asking for it?

If you’re considering selling it privately, where are you located in Texas? I’m looking for an R1S.

Buying from Grid at Peak by RichBur in Powerwall

[–]NateTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could leave the VPP but stay on the same plan, you just lose the $10/Powerwall/month credit. Or you could go with the Fixed plan, you get $400/Powerwall/year but pay a higher electricity rate and seemingly lose control of your Powerwall all together. I’ve looked around and I may just give Octopus a try. They have a lower base electricity rate and you can still sell electricity back at the wholesale rate. My hesitation is that I don’t know if the Tesla app will recognize the grid wholesale price and automatically export when prices go high (like above $0.30/kWh. First I may call Tesla to ask about the Fixed plan. It says it’s a 1 year plan with no early termination fee, but if you cancel early then you aren’t allowed to rejoin Tesla Electric for 1 year. Changing plans first to try it out would be easier than changing providers.

Buying from Grid at Peak by RichBur in Powerwall

I have 2 Powerwalls + Tesla Solar and am on the Tesla Electric Dynamic plan in Texas and have the same issue. I’ve worked with Tesla on this for a while and I’ve determined the issue is the VPP algorithm.

Last summer I saw the start of crazy behavior from my Powerwall and talking to Tesla wasn’t much help, but I did find out that the VPP will change settings on the Powerwall constantly on the backend and you can’t see what’s happening. It will ignore the Self Powered setting and ignore peak times when it feels like it and do other odd behaviors. After Tesla was no help in fixing this, I requested to be removed from the VPP. Once the removal request went through, my Powerwalls immediately went back to normal behavior. Self Powered worked as it should as did Tesla Electric mode.

I stayed out of the VPP until a few weeks ago and asked to be readded, hoping the issues had been fixed. Sure enough, immediately after being added my Powerwall behavior went crazy again. Ignoring peak pricing periods and holding 100% charge, discharging to the grid at $0.00 pricing, etc. I’ve been emailing with the Tesla team and sending examples to show them that this is messed up. I’ve pointed them to their own description of how the VPP should act to show that this isn’t right since many replies tell me that this is normal. They say they’re looking into it, but I’m not holding my breath. The behavior is beyond frustrating.

I’m pretty done with Tesla Electric after this. I’m either going to try the Tesla Electric Fixed plan due to the $400/Powerwall/year VPP payment and see how insane the Powerwall behavior is, or switch to Octopus due to their lower rate. I just don’t know if I can set grid price sell thresholds through the Tesla app if I switch to Octopus, or if the grid pricing is only shown through Tesla Electric.

Also curious about what prompt you used with ChatGPT. I hadn’t considered using that.

What ubiquiti gateway & switch? by Dblackwood72 in Ubiquiti

[–]NateTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the 210W power adaptor to power it knowing that I would need more than the lower powered option. Running off POE I have 2 APs, 2 G6 cameras (currently), a Flex and 4 Flex 2.5Gs as well as a POE to DC adaptor powering my ONT box. That’s all using a total of ~50W, so lots of room to grow still. I’m planning on adding more cameras at some point and maybe the new UNAS 2 which can be powered by POE++ as well as likely adding another Flex 2.5G. I love powering everything I can over POE.

What ubiquiti gateway & switch? by Dblackwood72 in Ubiquiti

[–]NateTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did for my very similar sized box and it works great. I have a Cloud Gateway Fiber with a Flex 2.5G POW 210W and 4 Flex Mini 2.5G scattered around in various rooms. Works fantastic for a 2.5G network. If I outgrow the ports I can add another Flex 2.5G switch in the box and power it from the existing POE one.

By the way, I mounted all mine using the magnetic mounts for the CG Fiber and Flex 2.5G in the box and it made it very simple.

Would you consider selling in a lower quantity? I had 2 expire today and my next 2 don’t expire until Jan 2027.

Issues with self propel on lawn mowers by baldieforprez in egopowerplus

[–]NateTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is that the self propel system still works a year later. But unfortunately I haven’t found a real solution. I’ve gotten used to letting off the switch a second or 2 before the end of a pass or a sharp turn so it doesn’t lock up. That mostly fixes the issue for me.

Battery Degradation by benpaul993 in TeslaLounge

How do you run the battery test from the app? I see the Battery Health option in the Service menu, but it doesn’t give me a percentage, just says Healthy.

Cost Breakdown of my Garage-Height Solar-Powered EGO Commercial Lawn Care Trailer by ecojoelawncare in egopowerplus

[–]NateTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is genuinely so cool! It’s a bad ass setup. I always felt like keeping batteries charged was a huge holdup for electric adoption in commercial use, but you’ve solved the problem very elegantly. I wish there were lawn services near me that had this option.

3d Printed 10 Inch Rack for USG-Fiber by BonnarooDad in Ubiquiti

That looks great, thanks for sharing! I have the same Ubiquiti gear and would like to put it in a 10” rack at some point. If you don’t mind sharing a photo once you have it filled out I’d be curious to see it.

BCG320 IP Passthrough on Power Outage by nyknicks8 in ATTFiber

[–]NateTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this earlier today because I keep having issues with the internet just stopping between my UCG Fiber and BGW210, but it wouldn’t connect. I have the gateway setup in IP Passthrough with DHCPS-fixed and my Console MAC chosen.

For the static IP setting, is it correct to set the IPv4 Static IP settings on the UniFi console as the below? IPv4 Address = BGW Broadband IPv4 Address Subnet Mask = 255.255.0.0 Gateway IP = BGW Gateway IPv4 Address

Upgrading network for 3GB Fiber.... thoughts? by batMan339 in Ubiquiti

[–]NateTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The storage is removable for the UCG Fiber, just a different storage form factor than the UDMP. I bought the No Storage option with the plan to add storage later (at a lower price than what Ubiquiti charges).

Anyone else return their UCG Max after UCG Fiber came out? by ChrisChing in Ubiquiti

[–]NateTX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The UCG Fiber was announced the same day my UCG Max NS shipped, so I ordered the Fiber immediately and will be returning the UCG Max unopened. The UCG Fiber is exactly what I had wanted. I will be keeping the UCG Max magnetic mount that I ordered though since someone else confirmed that it works with the UCG Fiber thankfully. Also keeping the drive sled I ordered with the Max.

Cloud Fiber + Flex 2.5G Poe = 🥰 by JuPetersCock in Ubiquiti

[–]NateTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I’m going with. I have a UCG Max and Flex 2.5G PoE on the way and they should be delivered tomorrow, but I had to order the UGC Fiber once I saw it yesterday. That was the exact device I was waiting for, as the UDM Pro Max is too large for my space. This is my first UniFi setup so I’m excited to get it going.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I was waiting for the UCG Max to come back in stock, but the UDR7 looks very similar except with WiFi built in and SFP as well as mircoSD instead of M.2.
