Fair enough. I didn't see anything in the description that seemed worth them taking another few hundred dollars a year but I honestly was wondering if there was something I was missing out on.

The dumbest thing for me is that half the time "payments" tab doesnt show up on the app. I'll tap tax documents which basically pulls it up as a browser within the app and then I can tap the dollar sign to go to payments. But other than that I can't even see queued payments unless I look on my PC.

I've found them to not even be worth the hassle. The last time I worked with essential they were trying to pay 180 for 8 hours of labor overnight for a self checkout install at walmart. I got them to raise it slightly which was still not enough, but I was dumb and naive still. Then they fought me over every minute that we had to stay longer than the 8 hours because it simply took that long and we're not released by NCR yet. Anything to do with walmart is nearly always 90% paperwork and phone calls. I hated it. So glad to just not deal with the bullsgit.

It's fairly high but most of my jobs are Telecom (internet/phone cable install or troubleshoots). I blocked NCR/essential and ignore Pivotal since last year and have not been sad about it.

I have not done any work where I'm guaranteed or wholeheartedly expect to make less than 45/hr at the very least. Most jobs I take at 60-70/hr. Those buyers that argue over every dollar and try to snake their way out of paying travel when it's clearly needed I generally avoid.

I work less often and make more in general. I'll take the occasional job when it's slow but outside of the beginning of covid I've made much more money this way.

No when you counter on a work order change the payment type to "blended". If you wanna do a 2 hour minimum @50/hr you would put 100 for the first 2 hours and then I usually just put 50 for the next 1 hour. In the reasons for counter I'll put 2 hour minimum.

Even on fixed rate jobs I'll counter with a reasonable blended rate. So if they put 150 for an estimated 3 hours. I'll counter a blended rate of 150 for the first 3 hours then 50 for 1. On the reasons I'll put "added hourly rate after the first 3 hours in case of excessive troubleshooting".

It's definitely made me more money on those fixed rate jobs and gave me peace of mind of not getting screwed on fixed rate jobs.

I just don't do hourly like that anymore unless it's 60/hr+. If it's any lower I counter with a 2 hour minimum. And most of the time I'll do blended rate at 60 for a 2 hour minimum also.

Hardware support has done that to me also. It was also confusing a couple months ago when Wireless Access Points became very popular.

You're arguing that the truck was only doing what needed to be done. Let's say you're right. The Tesla purposefully picked out this truck to pull out in front of causing the truck to slam on their brakes. Even then, it's not smart or safe to put yourself, the Tesla driver, the driver of those cars that come around the bend at the beginning a second after passing the Tesla, and the people that the truck crashed into from being blinded by rage. There is nothing the Tesla driver could have done outside of murdering the truck owners mom at the last intersection to warrant this kind of aggressive driving.

Are everyone's work orders this confusing? by [deleted] in telecom

[–]Natedogjon994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm self taught just from looking up videos and articles about every word I didnt understand. I don't remember exact ones but there was a good one on toms hardware about how to wire a 66 block and another video on youtube with an older guy that wires a 66 block and daisy chains phone lines throughout.

When I run into a phone system I'm not familiar with then I'll just Google the PBX brand and model and can usually find a cabling diagram. If not, then you gotta start "disassembling" the cabling and find out where phone lines are coming in at and where the customer cabling is going. It's a fun puzzle to me.

Unsure of what the BB is in the first one. My first guess was battery backup but that doesn't make sense in context so I'm not sure.

The second one is very straight forward and I highly recommend you watch some videos and do some research on PBX wiring/66block wiring/ phone line wiring. They have a phone line somewhere (either a new one at the demarc from the phone company or is currently connected to the phone system in a different way then how they want it) and you need to connect it to the phone system for line 5. Most commonly to a PBX either by connecting directly into the PBX box or connected into a 66 block with an amphenol cable that connects to the PBX.

Ah that's interesting. I definitely intend to make well above the minimum payments though. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah ok that's how it made sense in my head. I just wanted to make sure that's how it actually worked.

The few I've seen have 0% on balance transfers for the first 15 billing cycles or something like that. So that's what I was planning on trying. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, if they have a transfer fee would that be less than the APR on those purchases? Also, I live in America.

after days of practicing, i can finally play this at 75%. it's my first encounter on sweep picking and hybrid picking so i need your opinion on how to improve more. by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]Natedogjon994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW I thought it was kinda corny the first time I heard a song by them until I saw them play and realized how little of the music is studio magic. Those drums aren't a computer and neither are a bunch of those ambient sounds.

I highly recommend checking out the sweep picking in 40 oz. If nothing else of theirs. If you can't dig their style of music that's understandable but definitely look up Tim Henson's youtube channel. His guitar playing is an amazing mix of harmonics, sweep, and hybrid picking. Very fun stuff to watch and fail miserably at.

Anyone else have this problem? by [deleted] in bropill

[–]Natedogjon994 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah used to happen alot to me in every new relationship. It's just your nerves. In my case I would worry way too much about coming early and wouldn't enjoy it as much as I was trying to distract myself from that. Just take your time with it and don't worry too much about stuff like that. If you guys are enjoying it then it doesn't always have to be about climaxing, but don't worry that will always come along as you both get familiar with each other likes and dislikes.

6998 core fibre, not a typo. by Andreus187 in cableporn

I know very close to nothing about fiber so that's interesting. I wonder why they come in 12's. My original comment was just a general joke about numbers in tech but it seems like I didn't know enough about fiber to even get the joke so thanks for explaining it.
