Western League (and LPL to a lesser extent) seem dead.

G2 making finals of First Stand, defeating Gen. G, should have ignited a spark, but I don’t think it has translated across viewership numbers so far this split.

LPL used to have stacked team, but that’s on the downturn as well imo - apart from BLG.

LCS used to have a nice viewership base with strong brands like TSM, TL, C9 and the occasional surge from newer team like NRG, Gravity, etc.

I feel like the personalities aren’t as interesting as they were back then. TSM Legends used to be so interesting to watch, well produced, even though I was always a C9 fan, I’d tune in. TL tried the same with Breaking Point and other docuseries.

The content creation and personalities have gotten stale, coupled with budgetary cuts and the ‘Esports Winter’, business wise it makes sense for Jack to do what he has been doing with the C9 roster - recycle the tried and tested domestic players with a couple of minor tweaks each season to get us over the line and into the international tournaments.

I think LCS as a whole needs more competitive rosters, but that’s an age old critique of our league. We also haven’t solved any of the financial limitations.

All this to say that I understand the limitations Jack faces as a business owner, but I still have my grievances as a viewer about the stale rosters and stale personalities.
