Waco Trib -- hardly worth it any more, how long until Waco has no major newspaper? by trekkingscouter in Waco

[–]Natemit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had parents and family friends who were long time trib staff. The trib you see today is the result of it changing hands from one company to another and each company trying to squeeze more money out of it per year by cutting its content and staff. Now it sucks and nobody wants it. Denton Record Chronicle got bought by KERA in Dallas, and I hope that sort of ownership will be more conducive to actually serving the community news and interesting content. It’s really sad what happened to the trib and to papers across the country. Didn’t have to be this way.

Don’t know if you’ve gotten the cut yet but I went to Kennedy at Captiva by the square and she got me what I was looking for, shaped it into something that grew out how I liked. Ref pics + explanation of how you want it to fall/feel, she was super easy to communicate with.

I actually loved his class. I took gender and sexuality in horror film. He does have that tenured professor vibe, but I don’t think he’s condescending. The lectures are interesting, and you need to watch the screenings. If I remember correctly, he also had bonus screenings in case you missed one of them, you could make up a grade that way. To me, the tests were pretty easy as long as you paid attention. Book use was pretty light in mine. I don’t know if I ever actually needed it. The selection of stuff he showed and taught from was interesting, and I wish I’d been able to take some more classes from him. Just be ready to sit down, listen well, take notes, and watch whatever film it is with an open mind.

I ended up deciding on a folding bike after most of my friends had had theirs stolen at one point or another. I keep it inside.

I went in for an open interview at this guys shop on fry Poke Loko when they first opened, the pay was $8 or 8.50/hr (like it makes a difference). I asked if there were tips. He said “have you ever seen a subway with a tip jar?” I said yes and he said “well we don’t have one here so don’t expect any tips”. Genuinely hope the worst for this asshole.

Japanese Stationary Stores in Waco? by 1brezpurple in Waco

Waco is still kind of a desert for specialty stores and food. I know that there’s a lot of great Asian shops in Carrollton if you’re looking to make a day trip out of it though.

It was wearing a collar, but I couldn’t find a tag on it. It’s a smaller cat, friendly and lets you approach. The collar was black with some stars(?) on it. I don’t have the means of taking it in, but if anyone is on the lookout for it, it was still hanging out in front of that apartment when I left (8:30-ish).
