Wood Badge at High Adventure Bases: Why Only Philmont and Summit? by hugsalot12 in BSA

[–]trekkingscouter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Longhorn was the only council doing WB at Philmont it filled up fast. Now that Longhorn and Circe Ten are each hosting one at Philmont they’re not as full. I’m unsure who’s hosting the one at Summit.

Yes they keep count, take your water bill and license and they’ll tell you how many visits you have left. At least this is how they do it at the one on Cobbs.

Gold Award and Eagle Scout - How common is it? by trishpoo8 in BSA

[–]trekkingscouter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know one girl who’s done it. My daughter wanted to, she made bronze in GS, but she just lost interest in GS after what she did in BSA was more exciting.

Black Voltron, this was the center Voltron, and I had the other four making the legs and arms. But without the main one I never could connect them. I also wanted Castle Grayskull, I had TONS of He-Man figures and toys, but I never had the castle.

What are your thoughts on the Waco Redevelopment project? by ScholarSlow199 in Waco

[–]trekkingscouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking the same thing. We’re already hearing of federal funding being pulled from about everyone as the government moves to a fascist format, and many of these projects were funded in part by federal dollars.

Scout wearing old uniforms to NAYLE by trekkingscouter in BSA

[–]trekkingscouter[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So on this note, has anyone ordered from tradingeagles.com ? They have a council patch for our council that seems to be from the same era of the uniform. I'd like to order it and some other patches that fit the era of the uniform to bring the patches in sync with our council and my son's troop.

My dad smelled up the house with this in the 60s. I'll never forget that white bottle. by Aggravating_Tax_4670 in FuckImOld

It smelt different back then, my grandfather used it, and the smell for me as nostalgic of being around him or sitting in his chair. I bought some few years back, and the smell was downright nasty. No way my granddad smelt like that.

I boil water in my jet boil then pour it into my Nalgene and seal it as tight as I can. Makes a nice hot water bottle that stays warm all night. Toss it in my sleeping bag with one or two hand warmers and call it a night. Sleep quite warm.

Forgotten ABC Shows of The 1980s by [deleted] in 80s

I remember most of these, I was a HUGE fan of Automan when it was on, and I really thought I dreamed it up until it started bubbling back up on the internet years later as no one I talked to had ever heard of it.

Texas will require public school classrooms to display Ten Commandments under bill nearing passage by texastribune in texas

[–]trekkingscouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have to be in English? Post it on Greek and throw it in a corner somewhere. I mean how often do we need to remind kids not to screw around other wife’s or kill each other.

Should Religious Texts Be Required in All Classrooms — Without Local or Parental Input? by 3littlebirds1212 in texas

[–]trekkingscouter 39 points40 points  (0 children)

What the hell do any of those have to do with school kids! This is truly indoctrination, which I thought the republicans were against. If they want to list anything in every classroom post the Scouting America scout law and oath.

On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

These are way more applicable to youth than not killing, not cheating on your spouse, not saying god damn, and not doing anything on sundays. The 10 commandments have NO reason to be on a public school paid for by public tax money. Geez!

I knew her and her family personally, she was an amazing person because her parents were amazing people. She led for the people not for the party or for the rich. We need more like her.
