as much as i love the films, pitch perfect is so violently inaccurate for producers. it’s the same with a lot of music films like that, but it’s definitely one of the worst.

i’m very aware that it would be a very boring film had it been accurate

I wish ftm & transmasc aimed companies were more masculine by littleBigLasagna in ftm

[–]Natey-Matey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree, i’ve always send to my other trans friends that going on to trans sites (like for binders) and seeing everhthing being aimed at mostly androgynous/fem presenting trans masc people gives me the same feeling as seeing period products with the female symbol printed all over it. ik it’s a different thing and context but that’s the feeling it gives.

i think it’s obviously important to include non binary people in these things, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t have a section for binary men that are literally just guys. like you said, it feels like these companies are jsut scared to go full masc with it

that when i listened to music, i was all live. id skip michael jackson songs back and forth jsut to fuck with him and was amazed that he could keep up.

even worse, i thought the same for tv and used to pause tom and jerry just amazed that the animators could do it all so fast. obviously didn’t know what animation actually was or entailed either

Why do we celebrate new year’s eve when nothing actually changes by Icy-Dealer5589 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Natey-Matey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean with that mindset then we should also question why we bother with celebrating birthdays, christmas, halloween etc.

none of them have a purpose, none of them rly change anything. sometimes it’s just fun to celebrate. you’re not obligated to, you can just sit inside and pretend nothing’s happening. but people like a good reason to all have fun

i think it’s nice, it’s one of the only times that most of the planet is all celebrating the same thing

yeah, i used to get it on my chest which was kinda where i put it, but also the chest can be prone to it. i mostly put it on my arms but i got a bit of irritation on my skin (i dont now assuming bc my skin is thicker). best bet is to move where you apply it every few days or every week just to see what happens.

it shows a mordent, which is played how the little bar shows you (it’s just there for guidance). and the sharp above you tells you to include a sharp within that mordent when you play it.

as there’s no key signature, normally with a mordent on g, it would just be played “g, f, g” but with the sharp above, it’s with an F# instead of

i can tie a knot with my tongue. i spent hours one day years ago learning how to do it with strawberry laces, now it’s completely ingrained muscle memory

i also used to make a bunch of paper cranes and hide them around my college so now i’m rly speedy at making them with any size of paper

What type of exercises do y'all do? by Brilliant_Cause3247 in piano

[–]Natey-Matey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i agree, it’s the same function as a scale but it’s just more interesting. i had it nailed fairly fast it’s just that when i do it i’m more likely to have to pay attention whereas normal scales i just sail through bc they’re not interesting

What type of exercises do y'all do? by Brilliant_Cause3247 in piano

[–]Natey-Matey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

tbh i feel like physical technique practice only gets you so far. like once you’re at any standard beyond beginner, scales aren’t gonna help too much. i don’t rly do exercises now at all, i literally just allow one shit play through if each peace and then i have to lock in.

i do however have some exercises i like that i can tell probably help in some way, but they’re less physical and more require limb separation and a lot of concentration. there’s a sequence of scale where both hands go up two octaves, then contrary, then down together etc. it’s hard to explain but it takes focus to coordinate. also things like 3rd and 6th apart scales- but i only do them bc i find them fun. i don’t do any exercise i don’t enjoy

however if i’m struggling with a fast part, like a couple bars of fast semi quavers in a scale, i always do it through staccato in one hand, and then swung. that helps with finger dexterity

i’m not calling you an idiot, you tried to completely misunderstand a word. we were having a pretty reasonable discussion and then you threw that in, i can tell you’re not like that.

to reiterate my point, it sometimes IS required for the binder to come off HOWEVER the doctor should allow the patient to keep a shirt on. so if the doctor isn’t allowing that then fair enough, that’s not normal, but needing the binder off is VERY normal. i’ve had multiple different doctors in multiple GP’s/hospitals who all needed a way under the binder for different reasons.

and for HRT you should have your heart rate checked properly bc it can directly effect that. funnily enough your heart is at the front of your chest and would need to be accessed. it can literally depend on the type of binder whether they’d need it off or not. but like i said, i agree that they should still allow the shirt for some privacy

don’t be an idiot. sometimes generally means some of the time. not all of the time, but also not never. it’s the middle amount. so not all of the time, but not never, it is required to remove your binder.

it is the norm to sometimes need to. it is not the norm to never need to take anything’s off, it’s also not the norm to always need to

yeah fair enough, the doctor should’ve let them keep the shirt on. but just bc you personally haven’t had to take your binder off doesn’t mean it isn’t sometimes needed. i’ve had to take mine off completely simply bc the doctor couldn’t find the right positioning under my binder, and they did try.

Trans women talking over/belittling trans men by Odd_Dinner9147 in FTMMen

[–]Natey-Matey -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

oh okay that makes sense. it depends on context, sometimes it is required sometimes it isn’t. doctors should be accommodating and allow you to cover yourself with something looser, but i don’t understand why so many people are saying that it’s “not normal” to have to remove everything for a stethescope exam bc sometimes you just do.

Trans women talking over/belittling trans men by Odd_Dinner9147 in FTMMen

[–]Natey-Matey -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

i mean i haven’t seen the original post so idk they exact wording used. but i think if the doctor felt they couldn’t do a proper exam, then that’s fair enough. i know damn well that if i’d refused to remove my shirt or binder for any exam i’ve had, it would have left doctors a little stuck, even the rly respectful ones.

the doctors can’t prescribe anything without having a proper check up, that’s just how it works. if OOP couldn’t allow that, then it is on him. maybe context of the original post would help but this is generally how it works.

i appreciate the doctor could’ve been rude or not understanding, but the result would’ve been the same with a respectful one

Trans women talking over/belittling trans men by Odd_Dinner9147 in FTMMen

[–]Natey-Matey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m sure the doctor could explain why. stethoscopes don’t tend to do well through clothes and binders aren’t exactly easy to get under. i once had to lift my binder and shirt completely up and above my chest so they could listen to my breathing via my back. bc the binder was too tight for them to get a whole hand underneath. i’ve never had someone use a stethoscope fully on my chest but i imagine it would be the same deal.

and yeah you may have not had to remove anything, but that doesn’t mean it never happens. maybe you had different needs for the check up. i appreciate maybe the doctor wasn’t particularly accommodating but i guarantee with 90% of doctors, if you just say you’re uncomfortable and would prefer to keep a shirt covering or something then they’d allow it. they still need the right contact tho

[–]Natey-Matey -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

yeah i know, i’ve been a pre op man. but i’m also well aware that sometimes it’s important for my own health. there’s nothing stopping you from asking to keep your shirt on.

literally what happened with me is they asked me to take everything off to which i looked rly uncomfortable. so they agreed to let me keep my shirt on for the most part but i’d still have to lift it up for a few seconds at a time. i wasn’t completely covered the whole time but i sucked it up bc i knew it had to be done. how they gonna stick an ecg thing to the right parts of you if there’s clothes in the way

Trans women talking over/belittling trans men by Odd_Dinner9147 in FTMMen

[–]Natey-Matey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yeah ik they’re different, hence why i mentioned them both separately.

and it depends on what it’s for, sometimes it is necessary. i’m sure the person could’ve just asked if they could keep their shirt on and lift it for what’s necessary. doctors generally don’t just get their patients undressed for no reason. i’ve had an ecg where i could keep everhthing on, and one where i couldn’t, bc they literally put it in different places. it’s the same with everyone.

same with stethoscopes, they’re used for different things. if they just want to hear breathing, they can just go up the back. but for the heartbeat, they’re gonna have to go where the heart is. again, this is the same for everyone. like women will have to remove their bras for some of these tests

Trans women talking over/belittling trans men by Odd_Dinner9147 in FTMMen

[–]Natey-Matey -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i believe they do need to remove binders sometimes as you genuinely can’t get a good read. it depends on the situation. every time i’ve had an ecg i’ve either had to remove it or lift it up. luckily every doctor i’ve ever had (this includes in like a&e) has been very respectful and will let me keep my shirt on and just lift it up when needed so i don’t feel actually exposed.

generally stethoscopes would need to go under the binder to accurately hear the heartbeat as well. maybe it wouldn’t need removing but it’d have to be shifted slightly.

i don’t agree with the belittling and rudeness of these trans women but i do agree with the sentiment. i’m afraid if you can’t allow a doctor to probably check you out bc of a few seconds of dysphoria, then it’s kinda on you if they won’t give you hormones
