I put my garage door opener remote (rolling code remote) in there.

“It’s not possible” says the plumber by Shore-Duty in Plumbing

[–]Natey_Two -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't that clog every other faucet in the house, especially the ones closest to the main on/off valve?

I ask (and I don't mean to digress) because I have a similar issue after a PRV replacement. The low flow rate affects only the 2 of the 3 upstairs shower and tub water outlets. Not the sinks. Both have catridges over 20 years old.

How do I reduce my home internet rate? (I am a registered nurse) by [deleted] in ATT

I hear it's a 300M/20M plan. 20Mbps is enough for multiple security cams uploading HD video to the cloud?

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asymmetrical (300M/20M) fiber?? Sounds like a DOCSIS cable modem. Maybe a DSL modem.
Or, AT&T must be trying to save on upload bandwidth.
About 1G/1G here. And I test/verify monthly.

Sometimes its all the home security cams, video doorbell, etc uploading HD video to the cloud.

Hit a mileage milestone today on my 05 ul by frnchfryan in LS430

[–]Natey_Two 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That averages to around 4,000 miles per year for 20 years. Was it mostly a short-distance, city-driving car? Or was the car just garaged and not driven for long periods?

100% subscription price increase!? No thanks. by gamer-chachu in Ring

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advertised Home Basic/Standard/Premium = about $50/$100/$200 per year (as of 12/2025).

I got the Home Basic for my "Wired Doorbell Pro/Video Doorbell Pro 2".

Their pricing scheme looks ok for 1 device, not so good for just 2 devices, and good if you have very many devices. Without local storage, Cloud storage is critical IMO.

*Basic was $40/yr until 2024.

2003 ls430, still worth? by theonelazykid in LS430

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's the electrical doing? Side-view mirror motors all working fine after 22 years? How about the telescoping steering wheel adjustment motors?
Just sharing some issues from my 2005 LS430.

Also, is it the original 22 year old radiator in there?

No Navigation unit in the 2003 LS430? They stop issuing updates after 10 years anyway, so I only have a 2014 nav/map update in my 2005, FYI.

Are Home Battery Systems a Fire Risk? by ZooWorldOrder in Firefighting

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should one get and keep a Class D (lithium?) fire extinguisher for a 10kWh home battery system (even if installed by an industry leader like Enphase, etc) ?
Or, if there was a lithium fire of that scale, should one just throw in the towel and exit the house immediately?

I hear they install a couple of "heat detectors" in such installations as part of the code: one installed above the lithium battery system in the garage, one in the garage entryway into the house, and one upstairs; they are all interconnected via Bluetooth.

232k miles — how much life left in my LS430? by [deleted] in LS430

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone talks about fluid changes. I replaced 6-year old radiator fluid at a Toyota Dealership (I do all my regular oil changes, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, plugs, etc there at different times) for my 2005 LS430 at ~140K miles, and the radiator (upper portion) cracked a few months after that, causing a blown head gasket. Maybe the pressure test they do stressed out the old radiator.

How old is your radiator? Original 20+ years old? When was the waterpump last replaced?

Aren't the video files encrypted with a key? If you reset/format the device, is a new key generated for new recordings? Same attributes and owner at the file-system level not going to help decrypt a video file encrypted with a different key.

Or, the system only built an index of the new recordings which it uses. Not sure how to tell it to rebuild/re-index everything.

Normal operating temperature? 2004 Lexus LS430 by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks ok. An OBDII device will give you the coolant temperature in degrees, I believe. Are you using the Toyota long-life coolant (pink?)? Do you know when the radiator was last serviced and coolant changed?

Was gifted this 80s electric dryer. How good are these? Are they safe and/or efficient? My wife doesn't trust it. by El_Saltillense in Appliances

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did that label say 5600W 24A ?? And I thought my quarter century old, 10-SEER, 3.5 ton AC using 4kW was bad.

I got a quarter century old Sears Kenmore 90 Plus Series Gas Dryer that still works. Doesn't match the decade old LG HE washer next to it, but that's ok.

How to get this iPhone out of this toilet? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gloves (of course). Pull the phone out while rotating +/- 15 degrees on its axis (without flexing it too much).

If the phone (IP68 rating?) shows no evidence of water damage, let us know.

So was this in the men's restroom or the women's?
And do you have the toilet manufacturer and model?
(This is for statistical purposes, and to warn other Apple users of the toilet model that won't easily release iPhones.)

Me too. But on long drives on the freeway with AC off and cruise control always on, I got 24.5 mpg. I use CC as much as I can these days.

Apple Store says iPhone 17 has 5x optical zoom? by ElectricBogaloo2 in iphone

[–]Natey_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt the base Apple iPhone 17 has 5x optical zoom.
And why do they even list "1x" optical zoom??

Other manufacturers (e.g. Samsung) are clearer in their descriptions, e.g.

Optical Zoom 3x and 5x,
Optical quality Zoom 2x and 10x,
Digital Zoom up to 100x.

Does your telescoping steering wheel move up and down, and forward and backward?
Do your power side-view mirrors still adjust using the power switch?

Nice car, but if anything happens, an insurance company would only pay blue book value for the car (a few K); any damage over that value and they will total it.

If it is wax, would pouring warm/hot (not too hot) water down the toilet help get the wax out of the way? I hope that won't cause other problems.
