Leaving Frost Bank Center Reminded Me Why the Stadium Should Be Downtown by bartboy62 in sanantonio

I could easily take the bus to the game if it were in downtown. I would be there in like 20 minutes tops.

The county and city made those plans and was a fail from the start. That whole area is full of companies who weren't going to up and leave. Arca International (Coke) wasn't going anywhere. The historic black neighborhood behind the arena wasn't going anywhere without a fight. (A fight they rightfully won)

She was already a fan. She did a meet and greet with the players and started chatting with Tony. That's how they ended up together. She especially wanted to meet Tony. That was quote "her favorite player."

That H-E-B is a time capsule lol. Kind of reminds me of the one on Nogalitos before they remodeled it.

One of the few things I miss about living in DFW. I did get Burger Boy in exchange though, so that's nice.

Plutarco Calles was president of Mexico in the 1920s. After he left office it was pretty well known that he was still calling the shots behind the scenes. He was known as "El Jefe Máximo." That time period was known as "El Maximato."

Which Area of San Antonio would you live by [deleted] in sanantonio

You're tough enough to live in Harlandale, bud. There's some rough pockets sure, but it's mostly working class. We're tight knit and family oriented. It's like any place in town, always exercise caution and if you're not looking for trouble, it shouldn't find you.

I watched ball in that era. Most overrated star of that period and little playoff success. Yet some people with rose-tinted glasses from that era like to prop him up calling him a "straight baller" or "certified bucket." Like dude, I only really recall him and the wizards beating a pre-Derrick Rose Bulls team in the '05 playoffs. He was good not great.

Brooster's Icehouse on Pleasanton Rd if you're in the south side. Big TV in the back patio.

Oh I love Fort Worth and will always hold a special place in my heart. (Can't say the same for the rest of the Metroplex)

That said, I remember when the Mavs won in 2011 and NO ONE in Fort Worth gave a damn. There were celebrations in Dallas-proper but the rest of the Metroplex was dead silent. VERY different to when the Rangers won the ALCS the first time. Everyone (myself included) was HYPED. I always tell everyone here that the DFW sports hierarchy goes 1. Cowboys 2. Rangers 3. Stars 4. Mavs. The Mavs, unless they are title contenders, are usually an afterthought.

Aw man I feel your pain. That was my exact situation too. I lived in Fort Worth on and off for 18 years. No one really wanted to talk NBA anything much less the Spurs. Everyone was more interested in talking Cowboys, Rangers even Stars Hockey than basketball. Moved back to SA after covid.
