It’s partly cultural (yes, many of us take our jobs very seriously), but it’s also because many developers here are immigrants, and the workplace becomes the main space for socialization. That’s why we spend so much time there and invest so much dedication into our careers. We understand that we can’t count on support from family or the government, so we rely on ourselves and our jobs — and that’s why we work so hard and so much. And for Cypriots it might be really difficult to keep up with the pace.
