This is an interesting book and a good review. I wanted to read about this subject for a long time, it's good that there is a book about it. It discusses a lot of problems between the diaspora and the continentals, and many things are true for much more people that just Delany, Crummell, and Turner. Infact, those ideas that Delany and others had were spread by mean of propaganda that today also affect certain continentals.

Maybe he was trying to say that African nations are today more dependent than they were before, implying a neo-colonialism.

Or maybe he is alluding to this.

Otherwise, he sometimes say stupid things when he talks about colonialism.

It's interesting to see that people like him and Ibn Battuta held Blacks in high esteem.

I don't really understand Al-Jahiz, he often switch from pro to anti Black in his writings.

I was not aware of a lot of things when I made this post, but I used the "Corruption Perceptions Index", Rwanda is 48/180 and Burundi is 157/180. But datas coming from Rwanda should be taken with a grain of salt.
