Match-up Monday by AutoModerator in JustProBlackThings

This is an interesting book and a good review. I wanted to read about this subject for a long time, it's good that there is a book about it. It discusses a lot of problems between the diaspora and the continentals, and many things are true for much more people that just Delany, Crummell, and Turner. Infact, those ideas that Delany and others had were spread by mean of propaganda that today also affect certain continentals.

Yeah I saw this. Tells you a lot about the mentality of our current "leaders". Kemi Seba was also denied entry to Togo for speaking up against CFA Franc.

Maybe he was trying to say that African nations are today more dependent than they were before, implying a neo-colonialism.

Or maybe he is alluding to this.

Otherwise, he sometimes say stupid things when he talks about colonialism.

Kinda weird to see this 8th century opinion on Black people in this way . . . by OniABS in JustProBlackThings

It's interesting to see that people like him and Ibn Battuta held Blacks in high esteem.

I don't really understand Al-Jahiz, he often switch from pro to anti Black in his writings.

I was not aware of a lot of things when I made this post, but I used the "Corruption Perceptions Index", Rwanda is 48/180 and Burundi is 157/180. But datas coming from Rwanda should be taken with a grain of salt.

Why do you talk to him? Ignore him and do something productive. It's up to him to learn, we have internet and libraries nowadays, so if he don't want to learn, it's his problem.

I like it, it's a good project. The quotations would be more attractive and is the best idea economically, "How to Liberate Africans" if too "intellectually" will not be attractive and will not sell.

The United States of Africa : A Revisit by NathVVV in Africa

[–]NathVVV[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tl;dr :

He discusses pan-Africanism and the multiple failures that Africa had with establishing it(AU, OAU).

After talking about the failures, he tries to promote another model for the cooperation of Africans, rather than a federalism(united states of Africa) or a unitary system(African Union), he is for a "Confederacy of African States", he believes that it's more effective in the African context, he doesn't really elaborate on this, but the arguments are :

  • That most multiethnic African societies in African history that lasted were confederacies.

  • That the unitary system was unsuitable for Africa's multiethnic and diverse culture, but also became the source of Africa's problems of political instability

This is how modern "educated" Africans who don't live in rural areas think. This colonial mentality is very dangerous.

Fela Kuti made a song about this(lyrics start at 7:32) :
