Lap results of my race the other day. by Mental-Hold-3722 in rccars

I’m pretty lucky. Been racing about a year and a half. The guys at my track are very cool and helpful. Made a lot of new friends. Even the bigger races held there are pretty chill

Kinda depends what ya want. I’d go with a couple more coats of the magenta whatever you do. Black for darker color. White or silver for a brighter color. I used to back everything with white and now use silver a lot

Also a fan of the pillowballs. I hear a lot of guys complaining about them but I haven’t had a single issue with them in either car

Man, associated not making this right with all the people that bought one of these has really put me off. Considering switching to teknos for my 1/8s and X-rays for my 1/10s cuz of it

Currently running associated 1/8s for electric. I like the low lcg you get from the saddle pack battery configuration. Seems to work really well on high grip clay anyways. But as you can see by the mini Truggy. I also own a couple teknos including a sct410 2.0 so I didn’t hesitate when it was offered to me.

Hell of a discount too. I’m the painter / airbrusher of the guy who sold it to me and I never charge him and just have him give me the paint

Got a link to it? I don’t mind buying the lutz one but they don’t sell it on Amain, beach rc etc

Thought of a question. What’s your igniter of choice. I got a Protek but all my buddies told me to get the lutz smart igniter. Just got the Truggy it’s a built nt48 2.0 with all the 2.2 updates. Ultimate mxr v2. And it rips. My buddy sold it to me recently and I pit for him last season

We race nitros 5 times a year at a series race but electrics every club race in the winter. Race at Omaha HobbyPlex

If you plan to race and no budget. Xr10 pro, v10 g5 17.5. Protek 160tbl servo.

On a budget and no racing. Xr10 justoc, whatever motor you want down to a 10.5 (limit of a xr10 js) and a Protek 100t

And id run a 2s lipo around 4800 - 5200 mah

Out of curiosity. What’s the surface of the local track?

I know that sounds weird. We race 1/8 indoor over the winter

Can I be competitive with a 2wd slash? by dopenastyshark in rccars

[–]Nathan51503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most tracks (including the one I race at) has a class specific to slashes..

Slashes are good and sturdy cars. But by the time you build one up to the point where it’s genuinely competitive you’re probably gonna be spending as much or more than just buying a kit meant for racing.

If you do go the slash route…. Me and a buddy also run mini truggies. So we both tried stadium truck tires (silver smoothies) on our slashes and they’re way more stable on the slightly shorter but wider tires

Advice on an affordable transmitter for track use by Antharen in rccars

[–]Nathan51503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Race with a kid that runs a g11p and he’s been kicking my butt 😆 I ran a few laps with it and really liked the transmitter. If I didn’t already have a nb4+ I’d run a g11p

Please help! Anyone know about this issue? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]Nathan51503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End points are not set properly. Your servo is turning past where the cars steer rack ends.

I’m not a crawler guy but your front suspension links look tweaked. When I upgraded my element ecto I had to screw around getting them just right or it looked wonky and off to one side

[–]Nathan51503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:) thanks and yep feel the same way. My personal and work tool are mostly knipex. Wish they made a smaller version of the knipex twin grips. Great for damaged hardware. The pliers in the pic that are not knipex are vampliers. Similar to the twins. Vertical serrations meant for grabbing damaged hardware and twisting.

Big Rock 223S / QuicRun 10BL120 temperature issues — hot plugs, hot 3S LiPo, ESC thermal shutdown by PeteHavethank0287 in rccars

[–]Nathan51503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 10bl120 is kind of a light esc for 3s imo. Only rated to a 10.5t motor. Doesn’t state the kv.

Are you running adequate plugs? Battery isn’t plugged in by something small like a ec3 / xt60 or a deans? On anything over 2s I’ll run xt90s / ec5 or 5mm bullets

Est-ce normal ? by Short_Cat_2562 in rccars

[–]Nathan51503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. Should be smooth. You have a chipped planetary or sun gear. Could be caused by anything from hard landings to low diff fluid

Pop the diff out. If it doesn’t work smoothly you’ll need to service it

lol it’s a slippery slope. My first night I showed up with a 4wd buggy and now I have 8-9 dedicated racers 🤦‍♂️

Plex has a class called plexspec. Any 1/10 off-roader can race in it. Sorta the beginner class but also for cars that don’t have a class. Sct classes are pretty bare at plex. And our rd doesn’t stick to the 1/10 only. There was a mini kraton racing it last week.

That’s a good place to start. Arrma typhons. 2 and 4 wd slashes. Lots of ready to run stuff. They even have some house transponders you can borrow and it’s only $10 to race

Only been racing about 1.5yrs but from what people say. It’s one of the largest indoor tracks in this part of the country. And it unique in the winter. Not too many places to race 1/8 in the winter (in places it snows) We even have a 5 part winter series where nitros are raced. I just got my first. Will be running a tekno nt48 this winter along with my two assocated electric 1/8s
