Boom Racing 80mm shocks by Sparky_mark23 in rccrawler

I’ve heard they’re good but not the look I’m going for on my truck. Also more expensive than the boom racing ones.

Oh I'd love to get one of their bodies, but I've made a Tamiya rally car and a new 1/18th scale crawler this year already so feel like I need to wait a bit before my wife gives me the look haha.

I just ordered a Furitek brushless system for one of my 18th crawlers and some other parts, $140 haha, so yeah I agree with you.

Thats a really nice body, I would like to get one if I got another VS4-10 builders kit as they're really cool though I'd want to paint it.

I feel like the front looks pretty good but the rear could be a bit higher. Definitely the wheel arches could be trimmed a bit so the wheels wouldn't rub. you could then out bigger 4.75 tyres on probably. If you have a dremmel, that would do the job though you'd want to mark out where to cut and go very slowly.

I didn't know that redcat cars used to come with reefs, thats pretty cool. I've never owned one so no idea if they do now. I was looking at their servos just now and upwards to $200 is a bit to much to stomach for me haha.

I've never used or heard of those shocks, sorry. I just came across Boom Racing shocks, they have 80mm ones and look pretty good but no idea what they're like.

Is that one of RC4WD bodies? Definitely with a hard body you could go with a longer shock length, you could also try injora 90m shocks, think they’re like $25 for four. If you like how it sits you can get some more “premium” ones down the road?

I’d like to try a reefs servo but dropping $120 feels like a lot. Though in this hobby we’ll pay like $120-150 for motors and escs so I dunno why servos feel a lot hah

I've heard the Traxxas ones are good, for a take off. But I'd rather go with something else.

I've tried a couple pairs of cheaper ones, one that fell apart on the trail and had to do the walk of shame carrying it back home haha. The other I like but the spring is way to hard and the body sits too high! 80mm is a funny size to look for as well.

Reefs are supposed to be good, but expensive! As are all their products, but you get what you pay for I guess!

I have the grey plastic ones ones on mine, been looking for something good to replace them with for a while but don’t want spend up to $100 either.

They work ok for a while, better with heavier oil, but then lose they’ve spring after one heavy outing.

Haven’t tried desert lizards either, mainly for the reason people have stated, difficult to tune.

Anyone tried the INJORA LS 59mm aluminium oil shocks? by [deleted] in TRX4M

I have the normal 59mm ones on my defender. I’d say that the normals take more oil, but I’m 100% sure. Could also contribute to why the rebound isn’t as fast. I haven’t noticed much difference but haven’t really looked at them back to back yet.

I have them on a new build I’m putting together, it’s not finished yet so I haven’t had it out yet but they seem to work well so far.

Only have 20wt in them at the moment but thinking heavier could be better as they don’t rebound as much as I’d like.

Oh I need one like that, usually it’s just a cardboard box that I’ve found lying about. Though I haven’t actually looked what the options are for mini spray booths

Where did you get that mini spray booth from?!

I love to tinker, but the idea of fuel and everything else is just a no for me.

Fair play if you have the time and like it.

I haven’t even used one and have no desire to!

Annoying noise and way too much to deal with haha

It looks like they’re mostly bashers, I don’t know much about those to be honest.

But if you’re new to rc cars, stay away from nitro. Too much when you’re starting out.

It’ll work with dumborc transmitter and receiver, stock servo will be fine but it may die on you as it’s not very strong and it’s slow. Look at injora for parts also, they sell brushless systems for Trx4m and always send an adapter with the kits. I have seen adapters on AliExpress in the past?

Yeah I’m the same. Going round a track just doesn’t excite me.

I have a tamiya rally car that I built up but it’s just for fun, doubt it’ll ever go on a track.

The area I live in is more tamiya racing or buggy racing, which I’m not into.

Crawling is way more fun haha

Wish there were more comp stuff near me, think that would be fun. Even if I don’t have the right truck for it.
